Quote of the Day
“While I was in the coalition, the Al-Aqsa Mosque was not closed to Muslims for even one prayer as Netanyahu did in the past. We returned Jordanian sponsorship to the front . . . Will Israel impose its sovereignty on the Al-Aqsa Mosque? No, it is occupied land. The final solution to the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque lies in its release and for it to be under Palestinian sovereignty.”
Mansour Abbas, head of the Islamist Ra’am Party speaking yesterday
Lest you forget dear reader, the Ra’am Party and its 4 seats in the Knesset is what kept the abominable Lapid-Gantz coalition in power. How could any Israeli politician who claims to be “centrist” or Zionist ever agree to have a government based on a party that advocates Muslim sovereignty over the Temple Mount?
Lapid and Gantz must be voted out of office. They are giving away Israel piece by piece.
The News on the Israeli Street
The war in Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria: Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
Shooting attacks:
The Palestinian terrorist who murdered Noa Lazar and critically wounded David Morel at the Shuafat crossing three weeks ago opened fire last night at the entrance to Maale Adumim. He was shot dead by the two security guards there. In addition to the gun he was using in the attack, a grenade and knife were found on his body.
Click here to see the terrorist firing his weapon and then being shot by the two security guards.
Palestinian terrorists opened fire on the Temple Mount Road. One Israeli was seriously wounded. The terrorists escaped.
Palestinian terrorists opened fire at the Jalama Crossing near Jenin. No Israelis were wounded. The terrorists escaped.
Judea and Samaria.
Palestinian terrorists using “rocks”, IEDs, and Molotovs attempted to murder Israelis on Road 55 between Azzun and the Ma’aleh Shomron Junction, between the Ma’aleh Amos Junction and Ivy HaNahal, in Azzun Square, Nebi Elias, between Tapuach and Ariel in hte area of Marda, at Hawara and Einbus Square, on the Hosan Bypass between Al Khader and Beitar, on Road 463 near the Post Junction, at Beit Ur Al Fuka, Beit El, Beit Anun north of Kiryat Arba, at the Langohot Junction, between Ojah and Yatev, on Road 463 at the Parsa Junction, near Al Moayyir, and at other places.
Click here for a video of a Molotov rock attack on Bus 180 bypassing Nebi Elias last night.
More about the killing of the Shuafat terrorist at Ma’ale Adumim last night . . .
There are a number of unanswered questions concerning the terrorist such as:
–where has he been hiding for the last three weeks?
–how did he get from the Shuafat neighborhood to Ma’ale Adumim?
Prior to last night, the terrorist had already become a Palestinian hero. Residents in the Shuafat neighborhood, and even in Yaffo (never eat at the Old Man and the Sea restaurant again) shaved their heads to imitate his haircut. When news of his death became public last night, marches were held all over Areas A and B. Today a general strike has been called by the PLO and Hamas.
The Forum of Jewish communities around Jerusalem issued this statement last night:
“The Israeli government has decided to abandon our lives. Despite the serious security escalation, the Israeli government continues with its irresponsible plan to withdraw the IDF from the communities surrounding Jerusalem without transferring responsibility in an orderly manner to the police. This conduct has been deteriorating the situation in Judea and Samaria for months, and today’s attack is the writing on the wall . . . We call on the Israeli government to stop treating the residents of our communities surrounding Jerusalem as second-class citizens . . .
What is the bottom line? The Jewish communities in Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria will always be treated like second class citizens by a Lapid-Gantz government.
The ongoing collapse of relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia . . .
Back when Trump was president of the U.S. and Netanyahu was prime minister, it seemed for a while that Saudi Arabia was on the verge of establishing relations with Israel. It wasn’t that long ago that Riyadh granted overfly rights to Israeli commercial aircraft on their way to the far east.
However, that mood of growing optimism is waning by the day. Following news that we reported yesterday that Saudi Arabia wants to join a group headed by Russian and China, comes a statement from the Saudi Arabian Foreign Ministry today applauding Australia’s egregious decision to not recognize West Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
The ongoing lies of Yair Lapid . . .
As you may not know, PM Lapid has continually lied over the years about his military service giving out contradictory descriptions left and right to Israeli news reporters.
The story he settled on in recent years was that he heroically served in the Air Force, having something to do with anti-aircraft systems–but that he was forced to leave because the dusty location at Palmachim where he was stationed caused him to have a terrible asthma attack.
But now a document has emerged which seems to set the record straight.
That document shows that he lied about being in the Air Force, and he lied about the asthma attack.
The document shows that for at least some months Lapid served in the Armored Corps.
When confronted with reality of his service, Lapid admitted that his “Air Force training and asthma attack most likely did not exist.”
Say what? And this is the man who is our current prime minister.
By the way, there is still no explanation why Lapid lied.
Today’s Blog
The Jerusalem Post Devolves Into A Left-Wing Propaganda Rag
Let’s take a look at the headlines and their articles in the Post today.
—–
The main headline in the newspaper looks like this:
Eisenkot to Post
Netanyahu gov’t with Ben Gvir could damage ties with US
Your humble servant doesn’t have to tell you that this is just another hit piece on Ben Gvir in which Gadi Eisenkot, a member of Benny Gantz’s “National Unity Party”, gives his opinion about how horrible it would be if Benjamin Netanyahu is elected and includes Itamar Ben Gvir in his government. If you didn’t look hard, you wouldn’t even notice that Eisenkot wrote the article.
—–
Underneath this headline and story and headlined in slightly smaller font is an “analysis” piece written by Lahav Harkov entitled:
Harming Israel’s image
Again, you don’t need me to tell you that this is another hit piece on Ben Gvir which details all those in the American left who say that a Netanyahu government with Ben Gvir would be a disaster for Israel-U.S relations.
—–
Continuing down the front page and to the left, we have the only real news headline on the page which one would have thought would have been the lead article:
Shuafat checkpoint terrorist killed in Ma’aleh Adumim shooting attack
This article describes what we have described above.
—–
The headline under this article is another pat on the back to the Lapid-Gantz government:
‘Maritime deal can reduce Iran’s influence in Lebanon’
Guess what? This is an article devoted to the nonsensical comments made by Benny Gantz at a talk at Tel Aviv University’s Institute for National Studies yesterday.
—–
The last main headline/article on the page is another paean to Benny Gantz:
Gantz: Israel will help Ukraine build early-warning system, won’t sell arms
This describes how wise Gantz is in pursuing a “Ukrainian neutral” policy.
—–
So concludes the first page of the Post today.
—–
Moving quickly to the second page the first article we see is:
Gantz laughs at Smotrich defense minister ambitions
This is yet another attack on Ben Gvir and again Gantz is the hero.
And on and on.
In sum, it is sad to see what the Jerusalem Post has become.
Once a model of objective journalism, it is now nothing more than a left-wing propaganda tabloid in the same mold as The Washington Post and The New York Times.
