Tweet of the Day
The bizarre story of PM Yair Lapid’s army service became even more bizarre yesterday with Lapid offering yet another version of his IDF service. In response to his continuing dissembling, a number of Israeli politicians posted photos of themselves taken when they were in the IDF.
Lapid’s story became even more entangled when he harshly criticized the Channel 13 reporter who dared to ask his wife about his military service (or lack of service?) because she made his wife “cry” by asking her about his service.
Yair Lapid becomes more pathetic by the day.
Hilarious Quote of the Day
“I think this is a historic breakthrough. It took a lot of courage for you [Israel] to step up and step into it. It took principle and persistent diplomacy to get it done. “
President Biden talking to President Herzog in the White House yesterday
What a joke.
We are signing an agreement with the United States which gives away 860 km2 of our maritime territory. It didn’t take courage for Israel to agree; it took cowardice in the face of the Biden Administration and Hassan Nasrallah of Hezbollah. It is an agreement that is totally devoid of principle.
The News on the Israeli Street
The War in Judea, and Samaria: Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
Shooting attacks in Judea and Samaria.
Palestinian terrorists opened fire on our soldiers at the Mevo Dotan pillbox early this morning.
Palestinian terrorists engaged in an intense firefight with IDF soldiers in Shechem.
IED, Molotov, and “rock” attacks in Judea and Samaria.
Palestinian terrorists tried to murder Israelis between Akarba and the Tapuach Junction, between Road 90 and Yatev, north of Ofra, on Road 55 at the Ematim Junction between Kedumim and Al Funduk (Israeli wounded in the eye and body by shrapnel), on Road 458 near Rimonim Square, on Road 55, on Road 5 just before the Gitti Avishar Junction, at Ephraim (Israeli wounded), between Ivy HaNahal and the Ma’ale Amos Junction, between Azzun and Nebi Elias, between Yakir and Rabba (2 Israelis wounded including a child), between Ariel and Gitti Avishar, on Road 60 beside Luban a-Sharqiya, on Road 5 near the Barkan Junction, and at a number of other locations.
18 terrorists were captured overnight by IDF soldiers and Shin Bet personnel in Shechem, Dora, Tarkomiyya, Ezaria, Beit Fajjar and Teko.
Thanks to Josh at Rescue without Borders SSF for much of the above information.
Five days until the election . . .
Yair Lapid’s Yesh Atid party continues to rise in the polls–at the expense of his leftist allies. The Meretz and Labor parties are dropping in the polls and are particularly concerned that they may not make the 3.25% threshold. The leaders of the parties are warning their constituencies not to vote for Lapid.
All polls point to a very low turnout among Israeli-Arab voters despite the efforts of international and domestic leftists to get them to the voting booth.
Hadar Mokhtar of the Burning Youth Party who began her campaign so auspiciously has plummeted in the polls to somewhere below 1%. To revive her campaign, she hilariously chained herself to the Knesset fence in Jerusalem two days ago, annoyingly blocked traffic on the Ayalon freeway in Tel Aviv yesterday, and has ridiculously gone on a hunger strike today.
“Defense” Minister Benny Gantz is gallivanting again–this time to Turkey for faux “prime minister-like” photo ops with Turkish president and anti-Semite Taycip Erdogan:
One wonders if he will make it back to Israel for the signing of the Israel-U.S. maritime agreement (aka the Israel-Lebanon Maritime Agreement). After all, it was Gantz’s proposal to concede everything to Lebanon.
From the Temple Mount Foundation . . .
The Foundation is happy to report that an all-time record number of Jews ascended to the Temple Mount last month: 7,795.
How can the Foundation be happy with this number? It is 992,205 less than the number of Muslims who went to the Mount.
TODAY’S BLOG:
Another Black Day in Israeli History
This afternoon, the atrocious agreement with the Biden Administration which results in a 860 km2 giveaway of Israeli maritime territory will be signed. To state that again, the agreement will not be signed with the Lebanese, but with the United States.
We have had days like this before.
On April 23 1982, the 2,500 citizens of Yamit in the Sinai were kicked out of their homes which were then razed by Israel as part of the “peace deal” with Egypt which resulted in a massive loss of Israeli territory.
In 1988, Israel agreed to an international arbitration with Egypt which resulted in the loss of the Red Sea coastal city of Taba.
On October 26 1994, Israel signed its “peace” treaty with Jordan which resulted in the loss of the Naharavim/Baqura area (including Peace Island) and the Tzofar/Al Ghamar area.
On August 15 2005, Ariel Sharon ordered the evacuation of 21 Jewish communities in northern Gaza as well as 4 communities in northern Samaria as part of a unilateral Israeli withdrawal which again resulted in a significant loss of Israeli territory.
Today we will hear the U.S. negotiator Amos Hockstein and PM Lapid wax metaphorically about how this is agreement is historic.
They will rant that it will provide eternal security in the region and degrade Lebanese ties with Iran and Hezbollah importance. They will promise that in the event that Lebanon should violate terms of the agreement, the U.S. is always there to protect Israel’s security.
In other words, Hockstein and Lapid will do nothing but blather nonsense.
It is another black day in Israeli history.
