Notice:
The time changed in Israel last night as clocks were turned back one hour.
The Absolutely Correct Quote of the Morning
“The left will not calm down until they kill me.”
Itamar Ben Gvir, head of the Otzma Yehudit Party, following the events of yesterday.
The level of violent incitement which is being directed against Ben Gvir is appalling and frightening.
The Palestinians have openly called for his assassination and put a bounty on his head, and Israeli leftists have practically done the same saying that under no circumstances should Ben Gvir be allowed to run for office or be in a government.
If you think Ben Gvir is inaccurate, consider what some prominent lefties said yesterday:
“We are here in front of Ben Gvir’s raised gun.” Tzipi Livni at the Rabin rally in Tel Aviv.
“Hitler also came to power democratically.” Yesh Atid legislator Ram Ben Barak speaking on Ynet radio comparing Hitler to Ben Gvir and Netanyahu.
The irony is that Israeli leftists are doing to Itamar Ben Gvir exactly what they falsely accuse Benjamin Netanyahu of having done to Yitzhak Rabin.
The Absolutely Ludicrous Quote of the Day
“We will act with all the tools at our disposal and we will not allow terrorism to raise its head.”
PM Lapid after terrorism had already raised its head in the form of the murderous attack in Kiryat Arba.
Already the removal of barriers outside of Shechem has resulted in shootings at IDF soldiers and civilians. It is not surprising that a prime minister who gives different stories about his military service (if indeed he served) has no idea how to use the military to stop the terror.
The News on the Israeli Street
Speaking of terror, here are some of the terror attacks that occurred in Judea and Samaria yesterday–aside from happened in Kiryat Arba.
Shooting attacks.
Palestinian terrorists opened fire on IDF soldiers at a post near Shechem.
Palestinian terrorists opened fire at the Bnei Naim Junction near Hevron.
IED, Molotov, and “rock” attacks.
Palestinians tried to kill Israelis north of the British Police Junction, at Zubidat, beside the Tahsin gas station on Road 55, near Jinspot (Israeli wounded), between Bruchin and Peduel, at Fonduk near Kedumim, at the Yakir Haguda Junction, near the Ma’ale Amos Junction on road 356 (Israeli severely wounded in the head), at the Nabi Saleh pillbox, on Road 465 near Umm Safa, and at dozens of other places.
In Jerusalem.
More than a dozen Israeli cars were burned in Silwan last night.
What was the reaction of the police?
They decided to increase patrols in the area, not because of trying to stop such attacks but because they are afraid Jews will seek revenge.
Unbelievable.
About Labor Party Mirav Michaeli’s Rabin memorial rally in Tel Aviv last night . . .
It turns out that very few people actually showed up including members of Rabin’s family. But you would never know that if you were reading the news report on Channel 12 that included this photo of a packed Rabin square:
Remember the maritime agreement . . .
That agreement was supposed to stabilize the region and pacify Hezbollah.
Guess what? Here we are 3 days into the agreement and the IDF increased the alert level on our northern border yesterday as Hassan Nasrallah of Hezbollah proclaimed that Lebanon has not received all of its maritime territory.
And do you know what else? There is still no agreement with the French energy company that will explore the Qana natural gas field as to what compensation Israel will receive for the section of the field in Israeli waters.
Of course we all know that Israel will never see one agorot from that field.
TODAY’S BLOG
Incitement and Nonstop Slander:
What Happened At Kiryat Arba Last Night
Five months ago, “Defense” Minister Benny Gantz dangerously decided as a “humanitarian gesture” to open the Ashmoret Crossing to Palestinian traffic, a crossing that had been closed for 20 years because of terror attacks.
As the head of the Kiryat Arba Hevron Council Eliyahu Liebman said last night: “Five months ago, the Minister of Defense decided to open the Ashmoret checkpoint which had been closed to Palestinian vehicle traffic for 20 years. We warned that the opening of the checkpoint could lead to attacks, and unfortunately, this fear came true tonight. We demand a heavy price from the terrorists and their dispatchers, and we demand the security system close Ashmoret.”
So what happened last night?
Two terrorists armed with M16s drove a Volkswagen from the Palestinian settlement of Seir through the Ashmoret Crossing to Hevron coming to a stop in front of a grocery story which “just happens to be” in the Givat Havot neighborhood beside Kiryat Arba where Itamar Ben Gvir lives with his family.
A father and son who had been shopping at the store came out and got into their car.
The terrorists opened fire on them, killing the father immediately and wounding the son.
The terrorists then drove back north towards Hevron, came to a roadblock, and got out of the car, and apparently separated. One of the them returned on foot to the grocery store.
Another Jewish resident of the area arrived at the shooting scene and was immediately shot by the terrorist. Badly wounded, the resident took shelter in a nearby house.
Seconds later, “Yoni” of the Hevron security service arrived with another resident of the area–a soldier who was on leave. There was an exchange of gunfire.
“Yoni” was wounded, but managed to send out a message for back up.
Meanwhile another resident (a rabbi) arrived in his car, recognized what was happening and plowed into the terrorist, backed up, and ran over him again, disabling him. The soldier on leave shot the terrorist and verified that the terrorist was dead. Click here to see this sequence of events.
As all of this was happening, the second terrorist opened fire in another area of Givat Havot.
That terrorist escaped and is still at large.
The “security establishment” quickly rushed out after the attack to say that Ben Gvir was not the target of the attack though they failed to explain how the terrorists just happened to come to his neighborhood.
In response, Ben Gvir said: “They shot at my house, also at other houses. I don’t know if they intended to murder me, but this is the result of incitement and nonstop slander.”
What are the messages from the attack last night?
Our government must begin to care less about being humanitarian and more about protecting our citizens. We need a defense minister who cares about Israelis.
The incitement and nonstop slander emanating from the Israeli left must come to a halt.
