TODAY’S BLOG:
We Seem To Live In A Country Gone Mad
The Quote of the Day
“To President of the Supreme Court Esther Hayut:
Madam President. Understand. Like me, you have responsibilities too. When you scare people away from the legitimate actions of a right-wing government with very harsh words and urge half of the people to revolt against the other half, you make our enemies happy. In the process, you stir up chaos among us and certainly provoke the terrorists in our vicinity to wreak havoc here.”
Knesset Legislator Tali Gottlieb in a tweet this morning–a tweet quickly disavowed by PM Netanyahu.
However, Hayut has come under increasing criticism for the outspoken and unprecedented way in which she, as Supreme Court President, has shed her supposed judicial neutrality and taken to the podium to castigate the proposed legal reforms–almost to the point of becoming a cheerleader for the anti-government movement. In this sense, Gottlieb is certainly correct in saying that Hayut is encouraging discord–and encouraging our enemies.
The Tragedy of the Ramot Terror Attack
For the first time, photos of the two brothers brutally murdered in the run-over attack in Ramot on Friday have been released:
The funeral of Menachem who died on Saturday after a day in the hospital was particularly poignant last night:
Also heart-breaking was scene as Alter Lederman’s body arrived at the cemetery for burial:
Not only was the ramming attack at the bus stop barbaric, but also barbaric has been the response in Palestinian towns and media. The usual sweets were given out at junctions as the deaths of the Israelis were announced, and “cartoons” such as this one have appeared throughout Arab social media:
“Cartoons” like this are nauseatingly disgusting and show us, as if we didn’t know, the animalistic nature of our enemies.
So what is being done this morning? The army has sealed off the Issawiya house of terrorist, and police have entered the area. In the meantime, the Jerusalem Municipality announced today that it wants to budget “hundreds of thousands of shekels” for cultural and leisure activities in the Issawiya neighborhood for the upcoming month of Ramadan.
Yes, you read that unbelievable last sentence correctly.
More Missile Fire from Gaza
Nahal Oz was targeted in yesterday evening’s attack at 6:59 pm:
The incoming missile was successfully intercepted by the Iron Dome. No Israelis were wounded, but an untold number were traumatized.
The “Lions’ Den” branch of Islamic Jihad in Gaza claimed responsibility for attack which it said was in response to the death (of cancer) of a Palestinian prisoner on Friday.
Immediately after the attack, Hamas evacuated all of its outposts along the border and sent Hamas families into underground bunkers. But guess what? The IDF did not respond at all–saying this morning that “conditions were not right.”
No response at all–well not exactly. This morning, the government allowed 17,000 workers from Gaza into Israel through the Erez Crossing.
They attack us at will, and we do nothing except bring more Gazans into Israel.
Simply unbelievable.
Also Unbelievable
. . . was what happened at the Ma’ale Lavona intersection last night. A small group of demonstrators went to the Junction to protest the gruesome attack in Jerusalem.
Once there, they were attacked by IDF soldiers who threw gas and stun grenades at them.
It is simply incredible that the IDF has this reaction in Samaria against demonstrators on the right, and the police protect the leftist demonstrators in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
At times we seem to live in a country gone mad.
