Hillel and Yagel Yaniv
May Their Memories Be For A Blessing
Sgt. Hillel Menachem Yaniv (21) and his brother Yagel Ya’acov Yaniv (19) of Har Bracha were brutally shot to death while sitting in their car by a Palestinian terrorist in Einabus-Huwara yesterday. The brothers car stopped in traffic; the terrorist got out of the car behind them walked up to their car and opened fire at point-blank range with his M16 rifle. The terrorist, subsequently identified as a Palestinian from Jenin, escaped and is the subject of an intense manhunt.
Hillel had recently completed military service in the Navy; Yagel was set to begin service in a combat unit in the coming months.
The brothers will be buried side by side this morning on Mt. Herzl after a special request to do so was approved by Defense Minister Galant. Both of the brothers carried cards to donate their organs in case of death–and so their corneas have been donated.
After the murder of her sons, their mother Esti issued this eloquent statement:
“We have suffered a huge slap in the face from God. We are trying to find the good things. [It was a] grace that we were prepared, that we had a family Shabbat, that we had good conversations with the boys yesterday, that we took family photos. God sends us graces, even with this painful blow he sends us graces.
We have a huge hole in our heart; nothing will ever fill this hole – not construction, not protests, nothing. Even family celebrations will be just a Band-Aid. This hole will remain, and we will learn to live with it and to live with it in joy and to continue and to draw strength from you and our children… There are no words that can console us.
What to do? To add to the Torah study. To do significant service in the army. There will be a lot of forces on the way, to take care of [the murderers]. There are no words that can comfort. We trust you.”

The Israeli judiciary run amok . . .
One of the anarchists in Tel Aviv who was arrested for biting a policewoman during the anti-government demonstration two nights ago was released by a leftist Tel Aviv judge yesterday.
Her excuse which the judge accepted? She didn’t know the uniformed woman was a policewoman.
Unbelievable.
And oh by the way, is it acceptable to bite other people?
Legal reform compromises? . . .
One never knows whether to believe the Israeli news media, but several reports yesterday indicated that there are secret talks underway which may lead to compromises in the reforms.
That process may have visible in the Constitution Committee this morning in which Chairman Simcha Rothman said that he was reducing from 15 to 12 the number of Justices it would take to invalidate “an ordinary law.”
Let’s hope that the Coalition does not completely cave on legal reform.
By the way, a compromise agreement will not stop the anti-government demonstrations.

From Jordan to Huwara: The Predictable Concession-Terror Effect
What could be more predictable?
Every time Israel makes concessions to the Palestinians, Israelis are murdered in terror attacks. This has happened repeatedly over the years.
It happened again yesterday.
In yet another bowing to King Abdullah, PM Netanyahu sent a delegation to Aqaba, Jordan several days ago to participate in “an international conference” to prevent “a security escalation during Ramadan.”
The “international” conference participants were Israelis, Egyptians, Jordanians, Palestinians, and the Biden Administration. If you think the cards were stacked against Israel, you think correctly.
What was the outcome of the conference?
Concession 1. The Palestinian and Israeli sides affirmed their commitment to all previous agreements between them, and to work towards a just and lasting peace. They reaffirmed the necessity of committing to de-escalation on the ground and to prevent further violence.
[De-escalation on the ground and prevention of further violence refers to Israel’s proactive efforts to attack terrorists in places like Jenin and Shechem before they attack us. In effect, this is a muzzling of our security forces.]
Concession 2. The five parties recognize the importance of upholding unchanged the historic status quo at the holy sites in Jerusalem in word and practice, and emphasizes in this regard the Hashemite Custodianship/special role of Jordan.
[This refers to keeping Minister of National Security Ben Gvir off of the Mount and absurdly concedes (for the first time) that Jordan not only has a special role at the holy sites in Jerusalem but also is the “Hashemite Custodian”.]
Concession 3. The Government of Israel and the Palestinian National Authority confirmed their joint readiness and commitment to immediately work to end unilateral measures for a period of 3-6 months. This includes an Israeli commitment to stop discussion of any new settlement units for 4 months and to stop authorization of any outposts for 6 months.
[Again, this concession is directed against Israel. Specifically, Israel commits to not even a “discussion” of “settlement units’ (aka apartments) for 4 months, and a legalization of any new “outposts” for 6 months. Notice there is not one word about the Palestinians halting any construction in Area C. At least, Israel said that this concession is not related to actions already taken concerning legalization of the 10 Jewish communities and construction of 9,500+ apartments.]
Blah blah Point 4. The five parties agreed to convene again in Sharm El Sheikh in March to achieve the goals listed above.
[This is a sop to the Egyptians.]
Blah blah Point 5. The participants also agreed to pursue confidence-building measures and strengthen mutual trust in order to address outstanding issues through direct dialogue. The two parties will work in good faith to assume responsibilities and to enhance mutual trust through this arrangement.
Blah blah Point 6. 6. Jordan, Egypt and the United States consider these understandings as major progress towards re-establishing and deepening relations between the two sides, and commit to assisting and facilitating as appropriate their implementation.
Blah blah Point 7. The participants stressed the importance of the Aqaba meeting, the first of its kind in years. They agreed to continue meeting under this formula, maintain positive momentum and expand this agreement towards a wider political process leading to a just and lasting peace.
Blah blah Point 8. The participants thanked Jordan for organizing and hosting this meeting and for his efforts to ensure it produced positive results. They also thanked Egypt for its support and essential role and active participation.
[Thank you to King Abdullah, the moderate peacemaker–what a joke.]
Blah blah Point 9. They also thanked the United States for its important role in efforts to reach understandings that led to this agreement today, emphasizing its indispensable role in efforts to prevent deterioration and find horizons for peace.
[Thank you to President Biden, the indispensable and impartial peacemaker—what a joke.]
Blah Blah Point 10. The participants reached an agreement on the establishment of a joint security committee that will examine the renewal of security coordination and the Palestinian willingness and ability to bear responsibility for the fight against terrorism in the territories of the Palestinian Authority.
[The Palestinian willingness and ability to bear responsibility for the fight against terrorism in the territories of the Palestinian Authority. The PLO is going to take responsibility to fight terrorism that it incites and encourages? What a sick joke.]
Reaction to the these concessions was swift from Minister of National Security Ben Gvir and Deputy Defense Minister Smotrich.
Ben Gvir: “What was in Jordan (if it was), will remain in Jordan.”
Smotrich: “I have no idea what they talked about or didn’t talk about in Jordan. I heard about this unnecessary conference from the media just like you. But two simple things I do know: there will not be a freeze on construction and development in Area C, not even for one day (this is on my authority). The IDF will continue to act to counter terrorism in all areas of the Yosh without any limitation.”
Barely one hour after the Jordanian declaration of Israeli concessions came news of the bloody murders of the two brothers by a Palestinian in Huwara (also spelled Hawara).
By nightfall, Jewish community members from the surrounding area participated in vigilante action in the town burning cars (mostly ones in a junkyard) and setting fire to a few houses (the IDF helped evacuate families so that no one was injured):
Here at OneIsrael, we loudly condemn such attacks, but we certainly understand them.
As regular readers of this blog know, Huwara and the Einbus area are the daily scene of Palestinian “rock”, Molotov, and IED attacks on Israelis. Why do these attacks go unreported by the media? Why haven’t the Palestinians in Huwara stopped the attacks?
They are unreported because what happens to Jews in Judea and Samaria is not important to the mainstream media. The Palestinians in Huwara haven’t stopped the attacks because they support them–and they know that Israelis will make concessions to them anyway.
