Happy Purim!

The holiday continues with celebrations, parades, and picnics all over the country. Chag Purim Sameach!

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror on the Gaza border:

Nir Am was the target of missiles from Palestinian terrorists in Gaza.

Nir Am was the target of missiles from Palestinian terrorists in Gaza at 3:04 am.

No one seems to know where the missiles struck last night–in an open space around Nir Am or possibly in Gaza itself? In a few days or weeks, the missiles will probably be found in some agricultural field in the area.

The bottom line is that missiles attacks such as last night are not benign. Ten thousand people were awakened by blaring sirens in the middle of the night and had to run to their bomb shelters. Who knows what trauma such an attack causes?

The war in Judea and Samaria . . .

Shooting attacks:

7 Palestinian terrorists were killed in a firefight in Jenin. One of the dead was the terrorist who murdered the Yaniv brothers in Huwara (see Today’s Blog below). During the operation, terrorists using heavy weapons fired on our soldiers who responded with hand-held rocket launchers. Two Yamam officers from the Police Counterterrorism Unit were “lightly” wounded.

Palestinian terrorists opened fire on IDF and Shin Bet forces in Shechem during an arrest operation.

“Rock”, IED, and Molotov attacks:

Palestinian terrorists attacked IDF soldiers near Mevo Dotan.

Palestinian terrorists tried to murder Israelis in a bus on the Gush Etzion-Hevron Road near Beit Omer, in Huwara (Israeli wounded in the shoulder), and at two dozen other locations.

A Palestinian terrorist tried to murder a mother and her daughter near Ofra three days ago. The terrorist rammed Idit Lavi’s car and severely wounded her daughter Hadar–who may be paralyzed for life. The police, idiotically, initially termed the incident a “traffic accident.”

Yesterday, Idit described what happened: “The terrorist didn’t hesitate. He had a very clear goal and immediately after the vehicle stopped turning and turning, Arabs surrounded him and told me ‘well done, well done’. I was sure they were going to finish the job and lynch me. I called the EMS hysterically; I said ‘they are going to kill me, come quickly’.

We were surrounded by a threatening Arab crowd, and when the ambulance that was fortunately only three cars behind me arrived they tried to get the ambulance to treat the terrorist and not us.”

Idit asks the you to pray for Hadar’s recovery: Hadar Noga Lavi, daughter of Idit Belha.

No one seems to know . . .

Following President Herzog’s disavowal of the “New Herzog Compromise Plan on the Legal Reforms”, no one seems to have any idea about what is going on with the legal reforms.

Except for Simcha Rothman, the Chairman of the Knesset’s Constitution, Law, and Justice Committee. Amidst more false reports in every direction today, about what has been agreed to and what has not, Rothman announced this morning that he putting his foot to the accelerator.

That means that he wants first, second, and third readings on the first part of the legal reforms before the Knesset recesses for the Passover holiday, and at the same time, he is determined to get the second part of the reforms to the Knesset floor by next week.

All of that in the face of PM Netanyahu who seems to have reverted into his usual “don’t rock the status quo” shell–and even Justice Minister Levin who says that another compromise plan that came forward this morning is the first real basis for compromise.

The Rotten Israeli Judicial System:

Responsible For the Murders of the Yaniv Brothers

We now know that the murders would have never happened if a liberal Israeli judge had not prematurely released the terrorist murderer from prison.

That murderer, Ibrahim Abdel Harusha, had been imprisoned for 40 months before he was prematurely released on December 15, 2022. He had been sentenced to prison for “conspiracy to plan a terrorist attack” and should have served years more in prison.

The parents of Hillel and Yagel Yaniv, Esti and Shalom issued this statement yesterday:

“During Yom Purim we received the message about the elimination of the despicable terrorist. We thank the security forces who worked day and night to bring him to justice. A stone was removed from our hearts when we heard that the terrorist was eliminated and not arrested. We will always remember Hillel and Yagel as happy, good, and loved.”

Yes, thank goodness the terrorist was killed and not captured. If he had been captured, he would have been put in prison again, and he would have been released again by a rotten Israeli judicial system run amok.
