Chaim Topol

Chaim Topol.

Chaim Topol (1935-2023). May his memory be for a blessing.

Beloved Israeli actor Chaim Topol died today. Renowned internationally for his role as Tevye in “Fiddler on the Roof” and domestically for the movie “Saleh Shabti”, the 87-year-old had been in declining health for years suffering from Alzheimers.

What a force he was on screen and on stage! Topol will be sorely missed.

The Photo of the Day: “The Purim Miracle”

What do you think you are looking at?

What do you think you are looking at?

What you are looking at is being called the Purim Miracle. Two days ago, an IDF soldier in the operation to take out the terrorists in Jenin who murdered Hillel and Yagel Yaniv was shot in the head by a Palestinian terrorist.

However, the bullet miraculously lodged in his helmet, and the soldier was only lightly wounded.

The Emotional Video of the Evening

Regular readers of OneIsrael remember how we have all been praying for Lt. Nadav Weinberg, the IDF soldier who was critically wounded at Ir David (along with his father) on January 28–the same day as a another Palestinian terrorist massacred 7 Israelis near the synagogue. He was critically wounded but was still able to shoot the terrorist.

Lt. Weinberg is a medic in the Paratrooper Brigade.

For most of the last six weeks, Lt. Weinberg has been in a coma, hovering near death. The public has repeatedly responded to the family’s requests to pray for their son–and massive prayers for him have taken place at the Kotel.

Imagine everyone’s surprise last night when the uniformed Nadavstill bandaged around the neckwalked into the Kotel to participate in the swearing in ceremony for the newest batch of Brigade soldiers–all of whom erupted in applause.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the plaza.

Click here for the emotional moment when Lt. Nadav walked to the Kotel.

The News on the Israeli Street

The war on the Gaza border, Judea, and Samaria . . .

On the Gaza border:

*As we surmised yesterday, the missile that was fired at Nir Am two nights ago exploded in Israel–not in Gaza as the IDF spokesman claimed. The missile remains were found in an agricultural field near the community.

*Those fields along the Gaza border had to be evacuated yesterday when IDF soldiers discovered a bomb along a road used by IDF bulldozers. It was reported by residents on the ground that Palestinian terrorists also fired mortars at IDF personnel. The IDF responded to the attacks with tank fire targeting Hamas “outposts” (sand dunes).

In Judea and Samaria:

Shooting attacks.

*Following the firefight against the terrorists in Jenin yesterday which resulted in the deaths of 6 terrorists including the one who murdered the Yaniv brothers, another firefight in the nearby town of Jeva this morning resulted in the deaths of three more terrorists.

*Palestinian terrorist snipers tried to murder Yossi Dagan, the head of the Samaria Council while he was taking a person on a tour of the area yesterday. 4 bullets riddled Dagan’s car; fortunately he and his guest were unwounded.

*IDF forces came under fire in the Palestinian settlement of Hussan in Bethlehem. The forces returned fire killing one terrorist.

IED, Molotov, and “rock” attacks.

Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis near Beit Omer, north of Beit Anon, at numerous places of the Gush Etzion-Hevron Road, between Shevi Shomron and Kedumim, on Road 443 near Beit Horon, between the Al Khader Junction and North Efrat Junction on the Jerusalem-Gush Etzion Road, and at many other locations.

The Ugly Face of Israel’s “Democratic Protests”

These are the ugly faces of the anarchist, anti-government, “democratic” protests this morning:

Anarchist "democrats" broke into the office building housing the Kohelet Forum in Jerusalem this morning and put cement bags and barbed wire to stop people from entering.

Traffic jams everywhere:

What is the ostensible point of the traffic jams? To stop PM Netanyahu from getting to Ben Gurion for a flight he is taking to Rome. Apparently, the anarchists are also going to try to create congestion at the airport.

One of the traffic jams you see above:

The way the anarchists are abusing the Israeli flags is one of the most egregious aspects of the "protests."

The carnival atmosphere at some of these blockages is appalling. Your humble servant was blocked for 2 hours this morning just going from Ashdod to Yavne (a 5 minute trip). The blockage above is at the Namir-Rokach Junction near Tel Aviv University.

Your humble servant does not have words for the utter contempt he feels for these anarchists. Whatever right they have to demonstrate does not include the right to trample on the rights of others. By closing the roads, they make it impossible for people to get to work, ambulances to reach hospitals, and children to go to school.

But they don’t care about any of this.

And they most certainly don’t care about this country.

The anarchists are a group of egotistical narcissists who only care about themselves as evidenced by the facts that they are perfectly willing to destroy the economy of the country and render us vulnerable to attack from our enemies.
