Photo and Video of the Day
Today has been named “The National Day of Paralysis” by the anti-government demonstrators and anarchists. The goal is to close down as many roads as possible despite police attempts to keep them open. Already this morning, they are burning tires in the road in Ashdod, and blocking freeways all around Tel Aviv.
Today and this weekend, the anti-government movement is also targeting orthodox Jews–whom they passionately despise–with a march planned for the ultra orthodox city of Bnei Brak Saturday night.
Their obvious intent is to provoke the orthodox into clashes.
This morning, the collective Rabbis of Bnei Barak sent out letters and printed flyers calling on residents to stay away from the anarchists and avoid friction with the demonstrators. It’s good to see there are adults (the Rabbis) in the room.
In the past few hours the “demonstrators” have gone to the Wolfson Yeshiva (photo above) to spread their venom. The young men at the yeshiva have joyously responded by singing and dancing. Click here to see the scene.
The News on the Israeli Street
The war in Judea and Samaria.
Shooting attacks:
Palestinian terrorists opened fire at the IDF pillbox between Homesh and Mevo Dotan.
Palestinian terrorists carried out a shooting attack at an Israeli motorist in Adam Square hitting the car 3 times. Miraculously the driver was not wounded and was able to continue driving.
Palestinian terrorists opened fire on IDF soldiers in Shechem.
Palestinian terrorists fired at IDF soldiers in Dahariya.
“Rock”, Molotov, and IED attacks:
Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis on the Hevron-Tarkomiyya Road west of the Halhol Bridge, west of Anat, on the Hevron-Gush Etzion Road near the curve at Al-Aruv, in Ein Umm Ashrayat, Khirat Abu Falah, and at numerous other locations.
David Stern walks out of the hospital . . .
David Stern whose family was attacked in Hawara this past week walked out of the hospital and returned home to Itamar to a loud and joyous reception.
But not before riding through Hawara in a motorcade replete with Israeli flags:
Another caving in to the Palestinians . . .
Following the crackdown on luxurious conditions for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisoners, a hunger strike was called by the prisoners two days ago.
This morning comes news that the Israel Prison Service has utterly caved into the prisoners’ demands, and the strike has been called off.
Can you believe this?
Of course you can.
And another caving in to the Palestinians . . .
As you know, Israel has been taking tax money collected for the Palestinians at border crossings and distributing it to the families of terror victims in Israel. This was done because the PLO continues its policy of paying terrorists to murder Israelis.
This taking of money was done at the initiative of Finance Minister Smotrich.
This morning comes news that in the wake of Sharm Al-Sheikh agreement that PM Netanyahu has reversed Smotrich’s decision and funds will once again begin flowing to the PLO in Ramallah—to the tune of an initial payment of 120 million shekels.
The Knesset passes the Fortification Law . . .
In the wake of the Attorney General announcing that she was considering a decision that PM Netanyahu is “mentally unfit for office”, the Knesset passed a law in its 3rd reading last night that specifies that a prime minister can only be removed:
–if the Prime Minister notifies the government that he is physically or mentally unable to fulfill his role, or…
–if 75% of the members of the Knesset request the removal of the Prime Minister.
It was absurd that the Attorney General was even considering such a decision (and let it leak to the public).
By the way, the Opposition immediately announced that it would petition the High Court of Justice to declare the law invalid–which is precisely why we need judicial reform in Israel.
TODAY’S BLOG
The Outright Fraud of the IDF Spokesman’s Office
For years, regular readers of OneIsrael have read blog after blog in which your humble servant always wrote that we can never believe the IDF Spokesman concerning events along the Gaza border.
Virtually every missile attack is initially described as a “false alarm”, and missiles fired at us are usually said to have fallen in Gaza. It is only when residents on the ground report what actually happened by hearing explosions, or providing photographs or incoming missiles, or by finding missile parts on the grounds that the Spokesman changes his tune.
And, as you know, we have often chastised the IDF for its responses to missile fire. When the IDF responds (recently it has not been responding at all), the Spokesman describes that we struck “Hamas training compounds”, “Hamas storage facilities”, or “Hamas observation posts”.
The reality has always been that the IAF bombs empty fields, empty buildings, and sand dunes.
In a recent blog, your humble servant commented that the IDF Spokesman always is sure to produce a photograph of an apparently bombed building with smoke rising in order to placate Israelis.
However, yesterday came investigative reportage from Ha’aretz newspaper that showed that the situation is even more fraudulent than we have been describing here.
What the IDF Spokesman has been doing is distributing fake pictures to news outlets which purportedly show IDF attacks on terrorist facilities. Here are some of the fake photos:
Amazingly, when the report was published yesterday, the IDF Spokesman immediately acknowledged that it was true.
And promised not to do it anymore.
Sure . . . just wait until the next incident.
