And, of course, the paradigmatic Israeli politician’s photo op:

The war in Judea and Samaria.
The war may have stopped or slowed on the Gaza border for the moment, but it continues unabated in Judea and Samaria. Some attacks of the last 24 hours:
Shooting attacks.
Palestinian terrorists opened fire on Duvdevan undercover fighters during an operation in the Palestinian settlement of Lata (at Shechem). No Israelis were wounded.
The Palestinian terrorists who carried out a recent shooting attack on IDF soldiers in Hawara were captured in the Shechem Casbah.
Palestinian terrorists opened fire on IDF troops in another neighborhood of Shechem. One terrorist was killed; no Israelis were wounded.
IED, “rock”, Molotov attacks.
Palestinian terrorists attacked buses on Road 55 near Kedumim and at Hawara, exploded an IED near the Beket Checkpoint, and attacked motorists on Road 60 near the Machmash Junction and on the Gush Etzion-Hevron Road near Beit Omer as well as on Road 458 near the Shuli Hiyid monument and on Road 55 in the Nabi Elias Bypass–and at a dozen other locations.
Congratulations to Inbar! . . .
Israeli judoka Inbar Lanir won the gold medal in the 78 kg Judo classification at the World Judo Championships in Doha Qatar over the weekend.
Along the way she had to defeat the reigning world champion from Italy (in a stunning throw at the end of match).

By the way, the medal ceremony featured Hatikvah being played in Qatar for the first time.
Congratulations to Noa! . . .
Noa Kirel placed an amazing 3rd in the fiercely competitive Eurovision contest in Liverpool over the weekend with her song and dance number “Unicorn.”

Israelis follow the Eurovision contest extremely closely and were very proud of Noa’s result. She returned home to a heroine’s welcome last night.

Prepare Yourself For Jerusalem Day!
Lest we forget, on May 15 1948 the new modern state of Israel was attacked by soldiers from Transjordan, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq–just hours after declaring its independence.
Miraculously, we won the war and returned Jerusalem to Jewish hands for the first time in centuries.
On Thursday, Israelis will celebrate Jerusalem Day with a flag-waving march around the city–focused on the Old City:
It is a march that Islamic Jihad was determined to thwart and even demanded so as a condition for “ceasing” fire two days ago. But Israel would have none of it, and PM Netanyahu again declared this morning that the march would proceed as planned on the route it always takes.
The “In our hands for the Temple Mount” group (so named for Gen. Moti Gur’s famous declaration in 1967 when his paratroopers took the Mount) is calling for 5000 Jews to come to the Temple Mount.
