The Quote of the Day

“This is the dawn of a new day. Happy day to the citizens of Israel. Legal reform will return. The coalition will be here for 4 years.”

PM Netanyahu speaking yesterday after the passage of the budget.

It is not too much to say that with the end of the mini-war with Islamic Jihad and the passage of the budget, what we see is a new Netanyahu–or an old Netanyahu reinvigorated.

Just the sentence Legal reform will return in itself is a forceful challenge to the Opposition and the Biden Administration, and a rallying cry to Netanyahu’s coalition and base.

If we have written it once, we have written it a dozen times: all the political polls that you see now about how many seats each party would win if an election were held tomorrow are utterly meaningless. The next election is on October 27, 2026.

Happy days are here again.

By the way, as you may not know, the song “Happy Days Are Here Again” was written by American Jews Milton Ager and Jack Yellen in 1929 and became the theme song of Franklin Roosevelt’s successful campaign for the presidency in 1932.

The News on the Israeli Street

The war in Judea and Samaria.

The Shin Bet announced the arrest of a self-identified Hamas Palestinian terrorist from Umm al-Fahm who had planned to blow up a bus on the Hadera-Tel Aviv line.

In a joint IDF-Shin Bet operation, the terrorist who helped carry out an attack on a soldiers’ bus on September 4, 2022 was captured in the Palestinian settlement of Al Yamon. In that same attack in 2022, the terrorist’s son was killed.

Shooting attacks:

Palestinian terrorists engaged IDF forces in an extensive firefight at Aqbat Jaber. At least 8 terrorists were shot–the degree of their wounds is currently unknown.

“Rock”, Molotov, and IED attacks:

Palestinians attacked Israelis between Chomesh and Shavi Shomron (Israeli wounded in the head), in the area of the Sheikh’s Tomb between Al-Khader and Efrat North, on the Trans Yehuda Road between Hevron and Tarkomiya, on Road 55 near Kedumim, Luban al-Sharquiya, near Hawara, Al Abuv, and at numerous other locations.

Another fraud from the Left . . .

The Left is now determined to pour out protests against the recently passed budget as part of its anti-government drive. Already this morning, the leftist Maariv newspaper has published polls purporting to show that most Israelis are dissatisfied with the budget and that Benny Gantz’s party now takes the top spot.  As we have already written above, who cares?

Another way the Left is trying desperately to manipulate the narrative is through the use of photos–this one via a piece on Channel 11 yesterday:

Channel 11 used this photo of "budget protesters" with the commentary that "tens of thousands" protested. An astute observer dotted each protester with purple to better count them.

Tens of thousands?

Actually, 552.

Shavuot, one of the four major holidays of Judaism, begins tonight at sundown.

Orthodox Jews believe that God gave Moses and the Israelites the Ten Commandments on Mt. Sinai on this day in 1312 BCE.

In more practical terms, Shavuot marked the beginning of the wheat harvest in ancient Israel.

Today, the holiday celebration is marked here in Israel by a holiday vegetable and fruit feast in which cheese takes center stage:

Come to Ashdod tonight and help us celebrate Shavuot!
