The Egregious Quotes of the Day
Quote 1: “We will not enforce the expulsion of students who wave the Palestinian flag nor will we accept the proposal to expel students who have expressed support for acts of terrorism or terror organizations . . . The ban on flying the Palestinian flag at the university is a fascist ban.”
Tel Aviv University President Ariel Ben Porat.
It is no wonder that an increasing number of Jewish students are afraid to go to Tel Aviv University and sit side by side in classrooms with those who support terrorists.
Quote 2:
“The proposal gives the values of Zionism a status that prevails over other fundamental values, which have the same normative status from a constitutional point of view. We oppose anchoring Zionism as a guiding value in the government’s work.”
Statement of the office of Gali Beharev Miara, the abominable legal advisor to the government concerning the Otzma Yehudit proposal to be considered in the Cabinet on Sunday.
That proposal, which is merely a declarative resolution with no basis in law, calls on the government to instruct all branches of the government that the values of Zionism as expressed in Israel’s Basic Laws should be a guiding principle in their formulation of public policy—especially in giving of preferential benefits to those who have served in the IDF or in the civilian national service.
Can you believe that this proposal which would make Zionism “a guiding principle” (not “the” guiding principle) would be opposed by our out-of-control legal advisor?
In Israeli academia and Israeli legal opinion we see ideology seriously run amok.
Speaking of Running Amok
It came to light yesterday that the anti-government protesters called “Brothers in Arms”–a group of disgruntled reservists–actually collect donations through an association that promotes a Palestinian state.
Equally egregious was the discovery that some of its members are also members of Breaking the Silence, the atrocious groups that travels the globe trashing Israel.
On the Hezbollah-Iranian Front
IDF forces detected a drone crossing from Lebanese territory into Israeli territory yesterday in the area of Zerait and shot it down.
On a much larger note, Iran published a video yesterday showcasing its newest ballistic missile, the Khaybar, which has a range of 2000 km (enough to hit Israel) and can carry a weapon weighing 1500 kilograms:

As we all know, “Khaybar” is a name often chosen by the Iranians in order to remember Mohammed’s massacre of Jewish tribes in 628 CE–particularly that of the Banu Qurayzah which resulted the beheading of 300-600 Jewish men and pubescent boys, and enslavement of Jewish women and children.
Israel Remains at the Ready
More specifically, it was the graduation of the 123rd group of submariners.

Roger Waters Sinks Further Into The Slime
It is not news that Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters is a vicious anti-Semite who uses his anti-Semitism to promote his musical forays.
However, these past two weeks have seen Waters jackbooting around on stages in Frankfurt and Berlin dressed in a Nazi SS type uniform shooting a machine gun while an inflatable pig with an Israeli flag floated overhead.
In the background were images that compared Anne Frank to Al-Jazeera reporter Shireen Abu Akleh.
We only mention Waters’ depravity here to call attention to how blatant anti-Semitism has become.
The Anti-Semitism Commissioner in Frankfurt, Ove Becker, expressed his opinion regarding the performance of the show: “Waters compares Anne Frank and the mass murder of six million Jews with the personal fate of a journalist who died following a shooting in the West Bank – this is a terrible attitude towards the Holocaust and raises questions about his criminal responsibility.” .

TODAY’S BLOG
Happy Shavuot!
As you may know, Shavuot is also known as Yom HaBikkurim: the Day of the First Fruits; Chag HaKatzir: (Holiday of the Harvest Festival); Atzeret: (in reference to the halting of all work on the holiday); and Zeman Matan Torahteinu (the time of the giving of our Torah). It is one of the three “pilgrimage” holidays in Judaism.
It may interest you dear reader to know that Jews from all over Israel still flock to Jerusalem as pilgrims to celebrate Shavuot.
And just like thousands of years ago, the city of Jerusalem still welcomes Shavuot pilgrims. Here is a photo of one of the six “comfort tents” set up around the capital this week to provide rest and refreshment to those coming to worship:
The Minister of Jerusalem and Israel’s Traditions, Meir Parosh said: “It is a privilege for us to serve water and food to those on their way to or coming from prayer at the Western Wall during Shavuot from all over the city. We also welcome the hundreds of thousands who will be staying in the city for the holiday and invite them to use the service we have provided for the general public.”
It’s early Friday morning here in Israel, and your humble servant can look out my window and see worshipers beginning to return home after an all-nighter one of the many synagogues in this neighborhood of Ashdod.
After all, one of the traditions of Shavuot is to stay awake all night in study—to “atone” for the fact that the Israelites slept through the first Shavuot at Mt. Sinai. Also, it is commanded that all children, women, and men hear the reading of the Ten Commandments on Shavuot.
We here at OneIsrael wish you a very happy Shavuot!
