The Sickening Photo of the Evening
It was another Saturday night last night and the usual anti-government crowd was there on the streets of Tel Aviv (sounds like the words to an old Billy Joel song).
However, the crowd was somewhat diminished (estimated between 80-120,000). What is interesting is that as the number of anarchists decrease, the inner core of the protests is revealed even more.
“From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” was the chant that went up among the segment of the crowd waving PLO flags as they danced to bongo drums.
What is now illegal on the streets of Berlin is openly practiced on the streets of Tel Aviv.
By the way, an interesting turn in the anti-government protest is how the anarchists are now turning on their own leaders:
Perhaps this is a hopeful sign that the “protesters” are beginning to cannibalize themselves.
The Quote of the Day
Back on May 1, we had a good laugh when FM Eli Cohen proclaimed on Israeli TV that Israel was on the verge of getting the long-sought after visa exemption for Israelis going to the United States.
Your humble servant’s reaction was: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
How justified that reaction was–is further underlined by the comments of a U.S. State Department to the Al-Arabiya television network yesterday:
“Israel still does not meet the requirements to receive a visa exemption for the country. The main reason for this is Israel’s refusal to allow free passage for American-Palestinians.”
What can you say about the Biden Administration? Also yesterday, it was announced that American First Lady Jill Biden is making a trip to the Middle East to champion the empowerment of women.
She will be visiting, Morocco, Egypt, and even Jordan where she will attend the wedding of the Crown Prince.
What is the country she will not be visiting–the one in which Middle Eastern women are most empowered?
Israel.

The weather . . .
The exceedingly hot, dry, and windy conditions sparked 176 fires throughout Israel yesterday.
The country forecast from the Israel Meteorological Service today:
Country forecast for Sunday 28/05
Today: The temperatures will drop, though they will remain unseasonably high. Isolated showers accompanied by thunderstorms are expected mainly in the southern and eastern regions. High risk of flash floods in the southern and eastern wadis. Strong winds carrying sand will prevail mainly in southern Israel. Tonight: isolated showers accompanied by thunderstorms are still expected mainly in the southern and eastern regions. Risk of flash floods in the southern and eastern wadis remains.
In short, it’s not a good day to venture outside.
All Israel is abuzz . . .
The country is abuzz about the soccer game last night in which Israel’s 20 and under national team defeated Japan 2-1 in the knockout round to advance to the group of 16 in tournament play (the FIFA Under-20 World Cup being held in Argentina).
The win was all the more remarkable because Israel trailed 1-0 with 15 minutes to play–and was one man down due to a red card ejection. But Roe Navi (76′) scored followed by Omer Senior (92′–in extra time).

Zionism and Taxation: 2 Items On Today’s Cabinet Agenda
Two items being considered at today’s Coalition Cabinet meeting in Jerusalem deserve our attention.
First is the proposal being made by Coalition member Otzma Yehudit to have government ministries and ministers always include Zionist values in their planning and statements.
According to the resolution, Zionist values would need to be considered along with other Jewish values.
This would seem to be an obvious position for the government to take; however, we should not forget that the Opposition along with the Attorney General are all decidedly “post-Zionist,” and the Attorney General has already issued an opinion opposing the Otzma resolution.
Let’s hope the Cabinet decides to toss that opinion in the garbage where it belongs.
Second, discussion of a proposed law to tax foreign entities is on the agenda. That law would target foreign government entities and NGOs which actively work to undermine Israel.
Again, this seems like an obvious law to support.
However, as you may imagine, a whole chorus of Israel delegitimizers led by the European Union collectively and European countries individually have raised a hue and cry in protest.
This is not surprising since the EU and its member countries have been illegally pouring millions of Euros into Area C of Judea and Samaria to fund the construction of Palestinian infrastructure–which would change the demographic facts on the ground there:
The Europeans are anxious to continue their brazen enterprise.
There are reports this morning that the discussion of this law has been tabled.
Let’s earnestly hope that this is not true.
