The Photo of the Day
Rabbi Edelstein died yesterday at age 100. Very small in physical stature, Edelstein was a giant in Torah study–even teaching a class to his students on the night before he died.
It was difficult to get his body (seen shrouded in the photo above) out of the funeral venue and into the ambulance for transport to the cemetery because everyone pressed forward to try to touch his body as it was carried out. Hundreds of thousands of his followers filled the streets of Bnei Brak blocking the ambulance’s passage to the cemetery.
The News on the Israeli Street
The war in Judea and Samaria.
Shooting attack:
As noted in Today’s Blog below, Palestinian terrorists brutally shot Meir Tamari to death yesterday near Hermesh in northern Samaria.
“Rock”, Molotov, and IED attacks:
Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis near Homesh, Baaliya Hahomesh, Mevo Dotan, Hawara, Migdal Oz, on Road 446 near Naalin, and at numerous other locations.
Another amazing victory last night . . .
The Israeli Under-20 soccer team miraculously pulled another victory out of the hat in the World Cup for under-20 teams in Argentina last night defeating Asian champion Uzbekistan 1-0 on a goal at 97 minutes (the seventh minute of extra time).
They now move on to face either Brazil or Tunisia in the quarterfinals.
Another petty face slap from the Biden Administration . . .
It was announced yesterday that President Biden will invite President Herzog to the White House during the summer–in advance to any invitation that might be issued to PM Netanyahu.
Herzog of course is a dyed-in-the-wool progressive liberal who will do anything to kiss Biden’s ___ (you fill in the blank).
TODAY’S BLOG
Meir Tamari (1991-2023)
May His Memory Always Be For A Blessing
Meir was driving home and nearing Hermesh when his car was overtaken by two Palestinian terrorists in a large white SUV. They opened fire on him–hitting the car with 7 bullets, and drove on.
Despite being critically wounded with gunshots to his upper body, the 32-year-old Meir made it to the entrance of Hermesh where he was quickly evaluated by medical personnel and then evacuated to a nearby hospital where he died.
Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir reacted to the shooting attack angrily: “My heart is horrified by the shocking murder of Meir Tamari, a dear Jew who was murdered just for being a Jew in Israel. I will push for a death penalty for terrorists.”
A death penalty for terrorists is long past due.
Thus far this year:
Palestinian terrorists from Samaria have murdered 19 Israelis (inside and outside of Samaria): 14 in shooting attacks, 4 in stabbing attacks, and 1 in an IED attack.
Palestinian terrorists in Samaria have wounded 42 Israelis: 22 in shooting attacks, 13 in stabbing attacks, 7 in Molotov/”rock”/IED attacks.
One final thought: Many of these attacks have come about because previous governments kowtowed to international pressure and abandoned checkpoints throughout Samaria. One such abandoned checkpoint was within 100 meters of the scene of yesterday’s murder. Meir Tamari would be alive today if that checkpoint were still in place.
