Regular readers of OneIsrael know that we do not publish a blog on Shabbat unless circumstances warrant. Instead we offer a few photos for your perusal:

Lightning over the Sharon.

Lightning over the Sharon.

Sandstorms, extreme heat, heavy humidity, and high winds were all topped off yesterday evening with an intense lightning show that lit up most of Israel in advance of thunderstorms. Here in Ashdod, we had three hours of scenes like the one above.

In this screenshot taken from Hezbollah television in Lebanon, we see a Hezbollah terrorist aiming an RPG at an Israeli bulldozer doing engineering work along the border.

The last week has seen an increasing number of scenes like the above as Hezbollah seems to be trying to draw Israel into a war. In the video from which the above screenshot was taken, the RPG was not fired.

Sunset over the Kineret (Sea of Galilee).

Sunset over the Kineret (Sea of Galilee) yesterday.

The Kineret is not only a favorite swimming spot for Israelis but also a popular fishing “hole”. Just bring your fishing pole and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Sunset over Beit Shemesh.

Yesterday’s brilliant sunset over Beit Shemesh. You can see why Beit Shemesh is named Beit Shemesh: “the house of the sun”.

One doesn’t usually think of Beit Shemesh as a spot of beauty. However, it is surrounded by lovely forests and almost always has a beautiful sunset from its location at the base of the Judean hills.

One last sunset foro the day--this one from Netanya.

One last sunset for the day–this one from Netanya.

What made this one unusual were all the jet trails in the sky–a sight almost never scene in Israel. Yesterday was the tail end of a three day IDF exercise which involved heavy use of relatively low flying aircraft.

On that note we wish you a hearty:

SHABBAT SHALOM!
