The Quotes of Day
“We cannot accept a reality in which settlers feel like sitting ducks and count their dead. Administrative arrests against settlers are a draconian step.”
Bezalel Smotrich, Minister of Finance and Deputy Minister of Defense
“It is not possible for the law enforcement systems to enact different policies in different sectors. It is not possible that they will succumb to the [leftist] violence on the one hand and show an iron hand against the settlers on the other hand.”
Itamar Ben Gvir, Minister of National Security
These statements are reference to the police crackdown on Jewish community members in the wake of their actions after the murders of the 4 Israelis at the Ali gas station. Umm Safa and Turmus Ayya are two of the Palestinian settlements that have been targeted.
Remember the words last week of Aviad Gadot, the brother of the civilian who killed one of the terrorists at the gas station:
“We and our children are left to an enemy armed with IDF weapons. An ocean of terror. There is no Minister of Defense, there is no General Command. It’s just you or the enemy.”
The News on the Israeli Street
The war in Judea and Samaria.
New statistics concerning Palestinian terror: more than 10,000 “rock”, Molotov, IED, shooting, run-over, arson, and other attacks have occurred during the last year–an average of more than 27 per day.
Arson attack yesterday:
Palestinian terrorists set fire to the IDF guard post at Jilazon near Ramallah.
Shooting attack:
Palestinian terrorists opened fire at IDF soldiers manning the Sela Outpost in Samaria. No soldiers were wounded and the terrorists escaped.
IED, Molotov, and “rock” attacks:
Palestinian terrorists attacked an Israeli motorist driving with his family in Hawara. Both the father and an infant son were wounded and evacuated for medical treatment.
Other terror attacks took place between Tapuach and Ariel near Zita, on Road 465 near the British Police Junction, beside the Rachel Junction towaard Ali, Ein Bobin (soldier was wounded in the face), on Road 465 near Batari (soldier wounded in the head), Umm Safa (soldier wounded in the face), and at other locations.
In all, 7 soldiers and Israelis living in Judea and Samaria were wounded during Shabbat.
The idiotic Saturday-night anti-government demonstrations continue . . .
Some photos from yesterday afternoon’s and last night’s anti-government festivities in Tel Aviv:
And:
Don’t say we didn’t say so . . .
From the very outset of the supposed forging of new ties with Arab countries, your humble servant has sounded the alarm that those ties were only meant to provide those countries leverage against Israel in the international arena–and to try to dictate internal Israeli actions.
We have specifically written about this concerning Qatar, the U.A.E. and Morocco.
On Friday, we had a perfect example.
Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita announced that it is indefinitely postponing the next summit of the countries that signed the Abraham Accords.
Why?
According to Bourita, it is because Israel eliminated the 5-man terror cell in Jenin last week which was planning more murderous attacks on Israelis, and because Israel approved new construction in Area C of our ancestral homeland.
So we are not supposed to defend ourselves, and we are not supposed to building in our communities in Judea and Samara–on pain of being punished by the likes of Morocco.
Give your humble servant a break.

The Shocking Developments in the Netanyahu Trials
Context from a leading website covering the Netanyahu trials in cases 1000, 2000, and 4000:
“The evidentiary hearings in the prosecution case have been conducted before the panel of judges three times a week for over two years, during which dozens of witnesses were heard and thousands of documents were submitted. The core of the prosecution’s case has already been heard, including the testimony of the main prosecution witnesses, including two state witnesses and other material witnesses.“
Stop and consider that for a moment dear reader.
2 years of testimony from dozens of witnesses including the major state witnesses and other material witnesses against Netanyahu.
Thousands (actually tens of thousands) of documents submitted to the judges purporting to incriminate the prime minister.
And what happened this past week?
1. We learned that the audio tapes being used by the prosecution in Case 2000 were doctored by the prosecution. No “original tapes” were played or handed over to the Court.
2. We learned that the judges held a private meeting with defense attorneys and prosecution attorneys on Thursday and told the prosecution that they they don’t have the evidence to convict Netanyahu in Case 1000 nor do they have the evidence to convict Netanyahu of bribery in Case 4000. They told the prosecution that they should drop the bribery charge and reach a settlement deal on Cases 1000 and 4000.
One bombshell after another.
In light of these developments, we even had calls on Friday from Opposition leaders (and Netanyahu haters) such as Gideon Saar that the time has come for a settlement.
Nevertheless, the prosecution has invested too much time and wasted too much taxpayer money to listen to reason. They told the incredulous judges that there is more incriminating evidence on the way.
Supposedly, some of that evidence is coming today in the form of Arnon Milchan–the man who gave cigars and champagne to the Netanyahus. It will be interesting to see what Milchan says.
In the meantime, in light of the shocking developments of the past week, the Netanyahu trials should be brought to a speedy conclusion.
Government ministers Amichai Chikli and Galit Atbaryan summed it up well:
Chikli: “Indescribable shaming against a man who has dedicated his life to Israel’s rise. I’m proud to stand [with Netanyahu] on the side of truth.”
Atbaryan: “The demonstrators have spent years celebrating about corruption Netanyahu was never involved in. This trial is the lowest dark point Israel has ever known. I want to thank Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for not breaking.”
