BREAKING NEWS 10:30 am: Palestinian terrorists opened fire with more than 20 bullets from an automatic weapon on a car carrying Israelis (man, woman, woman’s 6-year-old daughter) on Road 60 beside Hevron. The woman, 4o-year-old Batsheva Nigri of Efrat, died at the scene; the man was evacuated to Soroka Hospital in Beersheva where he is in critical condition with gunshot wounds; the child was miraculously not hit by bullets. The terrorists escaped. Batsheva was the mother of three daughters and was a kindergarten teacher. May her memory be for a blessing.

Another Palestinian terror attack: an Israeli driver accidentally drove into Turmusayya last night. He was surrounded by Palestinians throwing rocks and Molotovs. He was rescued by the IDF just before his car burst into flames (photo: Walla).

*The new section of the Israel National Trail has opened. The northernmost point of the old trail–which extends all the way to Eilat–used to be Tel Hai. Now it has been extended by 38 kilometers to Mt. Hermon. In total, the hiking trail is now 1,080 km (671 miles) long and is maintained by the Israel’s Society for the Protection of Nature. Click here to see some beautiful vistas along the Trail.

TODAY’S BLOG:

We Have Forgotten Who We Are And Where We Live

This was the headline and subheadline in the Jerusalem Post yesterday following the murders of the father and son and Huwwara:

IDF searches for terrorist who killed father and son in Huwara

Security forces brace for revenge attacks from Jewish extremists

Note how the mainline media here juxtaposed the Palestinian terrorist murderer with Jewish community members (called “Jewish extremists” by the media) who had not attacked anyone.

At the same time, these were two announcements from the IDF Spokesman:

“Jews should not go to Huwwara.”

“Jews should not seek revenge for what happened.”

We have become so overcome with a desire to fit in with the western, “progressive”, liberal world that we have forgotten who we are and where we live:

–We are Israeli Jews living in the Middle East.

–Israeli Jews who live in and defend our ancestral homeland in Judea and Samaria are not extremists; they are Zionist patriots.

–Every act of terrorism should be met with a disproportionately overwhelming response. Turning the other cheek in this neck of the woods means that you will quickly have no face.

–Every lack of response emboldens our enemies. Not going to Huwwara means giving away part of our birthright.

This morning the Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, the Chief Rabbi of Tzfat (also spelled Safed), issued this statement in response to the barbaric murders in Huwwara:

“After the terrible murder of a father and son in cold blood in Huwwara, on a central highway where thousands of Israeli Jewish residents pass every day from dozens of communities, the IDF spokesman issued two announcements: one – Jews should not be in Huwwara, and two – Jews may not avenge the spilled blood of murdered Jews. What is the IDF spokesman’s problem?

It was only by ignoring the orders of the British Army which told us not to fight back against the Arab terror in the 1920s, 30s, and 40s that we held onto our land. And here we are now in 2023 with the IDF acting like the British Army . . . .

We are not in the era of the British and the IDF is not a British army. We expect the IDF to act like a Jewish army: ‘I have pursued my enemies and overtaken them, never turning back until they were consumed’ (Psalms 18: 38)Not to understand them, and not to contain them . . . We expect the IDF to act!”
