UPDATE 5:00 PM

Some Bittersweet Hostage News

Ella and Tal Chaimi--before October 7th.

Ella and Tal Chaimi–before October 7th.

Ella Chaimi gave birth to a baby yesterday at Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva. The new baby will join three brothers, 9-year-old twins and a 6-year-old boy.

Ella is the widow of 41-year-old Tal Chaimi and was 9 weeks pregnant on October 7th. Tal was originally thought to have been a live hostage in Gaza, but was determined in December to have been murdered on October 7 as he tried to defend Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak from HamISIS terrorists. His corpse remains in Gaza.

In Other Hostage News

The current “negotiations” with HamISIS continue to drag on. The terrorists indicated yesterday that they rejected the current Egyptian proposal but indicated that they are viewing the proposal in a “positive spirit.” A HamISIS delegation is on its way to Cairo.

Meanwhile our IDF troops remain stalled in readiness for Rafah.

The Asinine Quote of the Day

“If there is not a hostage deal and a prolonged ceasefire soon, it will not be possible to reach a normalization with Saudi Arabia.”

Once again, the long arm of the U.S. attempts to coerce Israel into a disastrous hostage deal on threat of no normalization with Saudi Arabia.

Your humble servant only has one thing to say:

WHO CARES ABOUT SAUDI ARABIA?

Saudi Arabia is not the important thing: what is important is the existence of Israel, the destruction of HamISIS, and the release of our hostages.

The Comments of a Commander in a Reserve Battalion Yesterday

“We can tell ourselves that we hold territory, control operationally, launch attacks, and have a military advantage over Hamas. In practice, everything is neutered here. At the same time that a terrorist sniper targets our soldiers, he looks up to the sky and sees humanitarian aid landing on him.

We will tell ourselves that we have returned to the land of Israel to stay, but according to the way the trend here is going, we operate at the dictates of the Americans. The IDF became an official subcontractor of the United States.

Holding the Netzarim corridor is holding a logistical axis, the logistical axis is for the construction of the American port for humanitarian aid. Right now my soldiers and I are risking our lives to secure the axis that ultimately helps the enemy who tries at any time to destroy us.  There is a difficult feeling here for the soldiers . . . they wonder ‘How is that possible? That after everything we’ve been through, after six months of being in reserve, we’re busy helping the enemy?’.

That’s not how you win. That’s not how you return the kidnapped. There’s no other choice left – the people of Israel must admit: the Arab enemy is perhaps the physical enemy, the US is the conceptual enemy – such an enemy who always makes sure that Israel is under an existential threat, that is, in exile.”

This letter was written to the leader of the Order 9 movement that attempts to block humanitarian aid flowing into Gaza.

It expresses the obvious point that we have tried to hammer home during the last six months–Israel has become a vassal state to the U.S.

On the Ground in the North

From the IDF spokesman:

“In a joint operation by the Shin Bet and the IDF, in January three Islamic Jihad terrorists were arrested in the Palestinian settlement of Yavd. The terrorists planned to carry out car bomb attacks in Israel . . .

During the night, fighter jets of the Air Force attacked several military infrastructures of the terrorist organization Hezbollah in the Sheba area. In addition, a short time ago an observer from the 869 collection unit identified a terrorist who was staying in a military structure of the Hezbollah terrorist organization in the Markaba area. A short time later, Air Force fighter jets attacked the building where the terrorist was staying.”

IDF soldiers on the ground need basic protective gear, armaments, and supplies.

Even during the recent Iranian attacks soldiers were forced to lie in open trenches to protect themselves from incoming missiles and drones as they have been doing for months on the Gaza and northern borders.

OneIsrael is now engaged in a campaign to help protect our soldiers. This campaign will extend to Shavuot.

Please consider donating to our campaign by clicking on the donate button in the right hand column on this page. All donations go directly to our soldiers.

Thank you to those of you who have already contributed to the protection of our brave men and women in uniform!
