The Gaza War Day 238, The War in the North

UPDATE 7:00 PM

On the Ground in Gaza

The IDF Spokesman a few minutes ago:

“The battle team of the Nahal Brigade led by Division 162 continues to operate in the Rafah area. During the last few days, the fighters located many weapons, among them a launcher with 6 barrels aimed at the territory of the country, an ammunition depot containing dozens of grenades, charges, Kalashnikovs, cartridges and vests. Also, the forces activated a drone to scan for a suspect, during the scans many explosive barrels were found ready for use.

The fighters locate many shafts in the area, encounter terrorists in the underground and eliminate them. The brigade’s fire complex destroyed dozens of terrorist infrastructures, including positions from which anti-tank guns were fired at our forces, military depots, sniper positions and terrorists who pose a threat to the forces.”

On the Ground in the North

From the IDF Spokesman:

“Following the barrage of Burkan missiles towards Kiryat Shmona this morning, the Israeli Air Force launched a wave of attacks on Hezbollah targets in several towns and villages in Lebanon focusing on new locations that have not been attacked since the beginning of the war, such as the villages of Qantara and Seddiqine.”

Military correspondent Amir Bohbot visited the North this week and published this depressing report:

“The north is empty of tourists. The drive on the winding roads to the Sepsofa area in the Marom Galil council area was fast. On the horizon, it was impossible to miss the thick smoke trails in the sky of heavy rockets launched by Hezbollah towards Mount Miron, the most popular target of Hezbollah operatives in the attack. Suddenly there was a terrifying explosion. Massive explosive sounds that do not come close to the effect of the Hamas Grad rockets from the Gaza Strip, nor the Iron Dome interceptions . . .

You can’t get used to the noise of the explosions. Whoever tells you that he got used to it is lying. When you see what Hezbollah’s rockets are doing, you understand what happens after each explosion.

The current month of May is considered the most intense period of time in the fighting against Hezbollah since October 7, 2023. As of this writing, Hezbollah has carried out 305 attacks from southern Lebanon since May 1 compared to 237 in April. Hezbollah has consistently maintained the same level of intensity throughout the past months and increases the scope of fire every month.”

In essence the northern border is a border no longer as Hezbollah has successfully depopulated a large swath of Israeli communities.

Biden’s Disastrous

“Three-Phase Proposal for a Durable Peace in the Middle East”

President Biden was at the podium again yesterday outlining yet another of his disastrous plans for peace in the Middle East. Herewith:

bidenplan

Unsurprisingly, Biden’s plan is nothing more than a complete surrender to HamISIS. All one has to do is to take a look at Phase One which calls on:

Israel to agree to a ceasefire.

Israel to agree to withdraw IDF forces from virtually all of Gaza (all of Gaza is a “populated area”).

Israel to agree that all Palestinians in Gaza can return to their homes.

Israel to agree to yet another “surge” in “humanitarian aid”.

And what would Israel receive in return?

“Release of some hostages and some remains of hostages.”

Say what? In return for monumental Israeli concessions, HamISIS would release a few living hostages and a few hostage corpses.

We could go on, but you get the picture.

Nowhere does Biden suggest that HamISIS be dismantled or disarmed.

Even after Phase 3, Biden’s plan would leave HamISIS in place and all of its leaders in charge.

Biden’s plan would not produce a “durable peace”, but would instead ensure continued war.

Biden’s plan is simply outrageous, and we can only hope that PM Netanyahu can hold the line against the peaceniks in his War Cabinet (read “Benny Gantz and Gadi Eisenkot”) who are ready to get down on their knees and grovel to Joe Biden.

On that note, we wish our soldiers and you dear readers:

Shabbat Shalom!
