Special Notice
Tisha B’Av, the date on which we remember the destruction of the First and Second Temples in Jerusalem, begins at sundown tonight.
There are strong indications that Hezbollah and Iran may use the date to attack.
Yesterday, Defense Minister Gallant contacted the U.S. Secretary of Defense Austin to say that Israeli intel has detected Iranian preparations for an attack not seen before. In response, Austin ordered the USS Abraham Lincoln strike force to accelerate its speed toward this area.
May Their Memories Be For A Blessing
Sgt. Ginzburg, 19, from Kiryat Tivon was a paratrooper who fell in battle yesterday in southern Gaza.
Yonatan Deutsch from Beit Shan was murdered by Palestinian terrorists in yesterday’s shooting attack in the Bekaa. He had finished his military service two weeks ago after serving in the elite Maglan unit, and was engaged to be married.
If you can believe this, IDF troops were deployed to intersections throughout Judea and Samaria after the murder to prevent Jews from retaliating in a “nationalist attack.” OneIsrael wonders why such troops were not already there to prevent Palestinian “nationalist” (aka terror) attacks against Israelis.
The Absurd Report of the Day
It was reported yesterday that a senior Israeli source told CNN: “The Egyptian and Qatari mediators gave us a clear message that Yahya Sinwar wants to reach an agreement that will lead to the end of the war.”
This absurd report was quickly followed by a HamISIS announcement that it refuses to attend the Thursday summit in Qatar which was supposed to discuss the ceasefire/hostage agreement and subsequent end of the war.
On the Ground in the North
Hezbollah launched 30 missiles into the Galilee region of northern Israel and near Nahariya overnight–and has continued this morning.
On the Ground in Gaza
From the IDF Spokesman last night:
“IDF troops are continuing to conduct precise, intelligence-based operations in the Rafah area. This morning (Sunday), IDF troops identified a terrorist cell exiting a tunnel shaft in the area of Rafah. The IAF struck and eliminated the terrorists.
In another incident, the troops also identified a terrorist cell entering a military structure adjacent to IDF troops and struck the terrorist cell in cooperation with the IAF.
IDF troops carried out a strike in the area from which projectiles were launched toward Kibbutz Kissufim yesterday , as well as a Hamas military structure used by the Hamas’ rocket unit.
Over the past day, the IAF struck approximately 30 Hamas terror targets throughout Gaza, including military structures, an anti-tank missile launch post, and weapons storage facilities.”
And so it goes this morning in Israel . . .
