UPDATE 10:00 AM ISRAEL TIME

The Absurd Quote of the Day

“The U.S. is deeply disturbed by the death of an American citizen in the West Bank. We contacted the government of Israel and asked for clarifications and additional information and asked that an investigation be opened regarding the circumstances of the case.”

A spokesman for the National Security Council at the White House referring to the death of 26-year-old Turkish-American (born in Turkey) Aysenur Eygi, an international provocateur associated with the Iternational Solidarity Movement (ISM) who was “participating” in the weekly anti-Israel protest at the Palestinian settlement of Beita near Shechem.

In this case, Palestinians “participating” in the weekly “protests” at Beita means that they are throwing “rocks” and other life-threatening projectiles at IDF soldiers.

As usual, the Palestinians and ISM have not been able to get their stories straight. One person said that Eygi was “running away”; another said she was “crouched behind a dumpster”; yet another placed her “standing beside an olive tree.”

Cloaked in Palestinian keffiyeh, Evgi at her graduation from the University of Washington. Her idea of making "positive impact" in the world was to come to Israel with the "International Solidarity Movement" to attack soldiers.

Cloaked in a Palestinian keffiyeh, Evgi at her graduation from the University of Washington. Her idea of making “positive impact” in the world was to come to Israel with the “International Solidarity Movement” to attack our soldiers.

Whatever the case, Eygi chose to be in harm’s way, participated in an assault on our soldiers, and paid the price (it remains unknown at this point whether she was shot by the IDF or Palestinians).

Instead of asking Israel for clarification, the White House–which now forces Israel to allow international instigators to come to Israel--should be asking itself about the wisdom of its demands. And someone should ask Eygi’s parents why they allowed her to come.

On the Ground in Gaza

The IDF Spokesman this morning:

“A short while ago, with the direction of IDF and ISA intelligence, the IAF conducted a precise strike on terrorists who were operating inside a Hamas command and control center. The command and control center was embedded inside a compound that previously served as the “Halima al-Sa’diyya” School in northern Gaza.

Hamas terrorists used the command and control center to plan and execute terror attacks against IDF troops and the State of Israel.”

On the Ground in the North

The IDF Spokesman yesterday:

“Today (Friday), the Chief of the General Staff, LTG Herzi Halevi, conducted a situational assessment and tour at the 210th Division on the border of the Golan Heights along with the Commanding Officer of the Northern Command, MG Ori Gordin, the Commanding Officer of the 210th Division, BG Yair Peli, and additional commanders.

The division’s commanders presented the updated assessments on the border, detailing both offensive and defensive actions, including the enhancement of the barrier and components of intelligence gathering.

Attached are Halevi’s full remarks: ‘The IDF is very focused on combat with Hezbollah. I think that the number of strikes in the past month, operatives eliminated, rockets and infrastructure destroyed, is very high. The Northern Command, with all of the IDF’s capabilities, is striking a lot of Hezbollah’s capabilities in Lebanon before they can attack us, and at the same time, we are preparing for offensive moves within the arena. I think that this combination of very significant strikes on Hezbollah to reduce the threats to the residents in the north, including in the Golan Heights, is very, very significant together with readiness for an offensive going forward that we are very engaged in.'”

The question is whether what Halevi describes is actually reducing the threat to residents of the north as he claims.

The answer is a resounding “no.”

Already this morning, Matat and the Sdeh Meron School were hit with missiles at 06:04. After that at 07:23, Rosh HaNikra and Achziv were struck by exploding drones.

On the Ground in Judea and Samaria

The IDF Spokesman (last night):

“In the past week, the IDF operated with high intensity across Judea and Samaria, the Jordan Valley, the Gaza Strip, and the northern arena.

In Jenin, Tulkarm, and Far’a, extensive counterterrorism operations were carried out resulting in the elimination of about 35 terrorists and the apprehension of approximately 45 others. Additionally, dozens of weapons and explosives were confiscated and three explosive labs were destroyed. In the northern arena, about 50 strikes were carried out on buildings, infrastructure, and weapon storage sites, dozens of rocket launchers aimed at northern communities were destroyed. In the Gaza Strip, the IDF struck and dismantled over 40 terror infrastructure, including command and control centers disguised as schools, colleges, and humanitarian areas. Furthermore, more than 100 terrorists were eliminated and several tunnel shafts were discovered.”

Did you read that last sentence carefully?

“Several tunnel shafts were discovered.”

The terrorists in Samaria are employing the same technique as those in Gaza–burrowing underground.

On that unhappy note, we nevertheless wish our soldiers and you dear readers:

Shabbat Shalom!
