UPDATE 1:00 PM ISRAEL TIME

The War in the North

An IAF contingent dropped flyers in the Wazzani area of southern Lebanon yesterday ordering residents to evacuate by 4 pm today:

Specifically, the flyer reads:
“Hezbollah is firing from your area. You have until 16:00 to evacuate north to the al-Khyam area.”

Regular readers of OneIsrael will immediately recognize both how the map has divided this part of Lebanon into sections and the message of “evacuation or else” from all of the similar messages sent to residents of neighborhoods in Gaza.

If the IDF carries through on this threat, it marks a distinct escalation of the fighting in southern Lebanon.

Elsewhere, the IAF struck numerous targets overnight, not only destroying Hezbollah assets but also setting fires by way of collateral damage (just as Hezbollah has been doing in northern Israel). One such fire was in Rashaya Al-Fukhar:

Meanwhile, Hezbollah launched 55 missiles and explosive drones into northern Israel yesterday. Hardest hit was Metulla with multiple houses destroyed. Today Metulla has been hit again (07:08) as have Kfar Giladi and Avivim.

On the Ground in Gaza

The IDF spokesman last night:

“A short while ago, with the direction of IDF and ISA intelligence, the IAF conducted a precise strike on a Hamas command and control center embedded inside a compound that previously served as the ‘Raazi El Shua’ School in Beit Hanoun.

And early this morning:

“A short while ago, with the direction of IDF and ISA intelligence, the IAF conducted a precise strike on terrorists who were operating inside a Hamas command and control center embedded inside a compound that previously served as the Shuhada’ al-Zaytun school in Gaza city. The school compound was used by Hamas terrorists to plan and carry out terrorist attacks against IDF troops and the State of Israel.”

As you can see from these statements as well as others in recent weeks, the IDF is systematically destroying all the HamISIS centers located in “schools.”

On the Ground in Jerusalem

Yesterday evening at 19:45, a knife-armed Palestinian terrorist stabbed a security guard soldier in the neck from behind at the Nablus Gate in the Old City of Jerusalem. The soldier was evacuated to a Sha’are Zedek Hospital in “moderate condition”. The terrorist was shot and killed by Border Police.

In Political News

There are numerous rumors swirling about the political landscape today to the tune that PM Netanyahu is on the verge of replacing Defense Minister Gallant with Gideon Sa’ar.

Gallant fell out of favor with Netanyahu months ago and continues to operate like a lone wolf. Sa’ar and his party are not currently members of the Coalition, and would have to join it for him to take over at Defense.

By the way, Sa’ar is considered much further to the “right” than Gallant.

On that hopeful note, we conclude today’s blog unless circumstances intervene . . .
