The Gaza War Day 552; The Wars Elsewhere

The Quote of the Day

“The actions on October 7 were a military maneuver aimed at the Gaza Division of Israel’s Southern Command, designed to kill and capture Zionist soldiers and not harm women, children, and the elderly.”

Hamas senior official Abu Marzouk in a letter to the British Home Secretary demanding that Hamas be removed from the British list of terrorist organizations.

Can you even begin to imagine the unmitigated gall of this ludicrous statement? Children, rounded up, tied together and burned to death; women raped repeatedly and shot to death or taken hostage to the tunnels of Gaza; hundreds of elderly slaughtered or taken to Gaza. Despite all of this, will you be surprised if the British Home Secretary accedes to the Hamas demand?

Here at OneIsrael, we would not be surprised at all.

UPDATE 9:00 AM ISRAEL TIME

The View from Ashdod

A strange night here in Ashdod. The evening began quietly, then exploded with continuous concussive resonating bombs emanating from Gaza from 9:00 pm until 9:30 pm, then went quiet again until 3:25 am when the booms resumed until around 4:00 am, after which it has been quiet again except for the occasional boom this morning.

On the Ground in Gaza

*Some of what we heard last night and early this morning were IAF attacks on Hamas terrorists in Khan Younis and Nuseirat.

*Source of image below: Marco Ugolini, ECFR, ecfr, eu:

From south to north: the Philadelphi Corridor, the Morag Corridor, the Kissufim Corridor, the Netzarim Corridor, the Mefalsim Corridor (which no one ever mentions).

The IDF continues to expand the newly created Morag Corridor. According to the IDF, the Corridor–which will cut off Khan Younis from Rafah–will be about 12 km long and 300 meters wide on both sides. It is not expected to be completed until June or July. The reason for the lengthy time needed to complete it is that numerous nearby structures must be demolished so that there can be no threat to our soldiers above ground.

*Looking at Gaza as a whole has become increasingly difficult because the Philadelphi Corridor, Morag Corridor, Kissufim Corridor, Netzarim Corridor, and Mefalsim Corridor have completely fragmented Gaza into “land islands”.

*Confusing reports yesterday first had Haithan al-Sheikh, the commander of Hamas forces in Shejaiyeh as being killed in a strike which killed 34 other terrorists as well.

However by last night, al-Sheikh was reported as still alive.

This morning, the IDF says that it doesn’t know if he is alive or dead.

*As you already know, the Indonesian government has agreed to “temporarily shelter” some 1000 “wounded and orphaned” Gazans. It is hoped here that the 1000 will turn into 100,000. Apparently, a number of countries are on board with accepting Gazan evacuees.

The following perceptive post by an anonymous person appeared on rotter.net this morning (emphasis mine):

“They [the Indonesians] know them [Gazan Palestinians] through all sorts of myths, things they were told in the madrasas that Saudi Arabia and Qatar established, and media coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict (which of course presents them in a particularly positive light).

In any case, there is [an argument that might] disprove their [the Indonesian’s] desire to accept hundreds of thousands of people – they have nothing to do with them. There is no shortage of working hands in Indonesia; on the contrary, there is a surplus.

But we must remember that such regimes sometimes make other considerations… For example, did Jordan have an interest in absorbing hundreds of thousands (they claim a much higher number) of refugees from Iraq and Syria? On the surface, no, but they turned the refugees into a source of income from the international community. Indonesia is not Jordan, it does not need to solicit money from the international community. But maybe it needs a security agreement with the U.S. to defend itself against China?

On the Ground in Lebanon

According to Lebanese sources, an IAF drone attacked Hezbollah assets at a “school” in the village of Ramia, in the western part of southern Lebanon. It remains unknown at this time what or who was eliminated.

On the Ground in Judea and Samaria

A Joint IDF, ISA, and Israel Police Announcement yesterday:

“On Tuesday, during counterterrorism operations conducted by Israeli security forces in Shechem, two terrorists, including a senior terrorist in the dismantled “Lion’s Den” terrorist network, were apprehended, and additional weapons were confiscated.

Special forces of the Israel Police Lahav 433 “Gidonim” Unit, in collaboration with the IDF and ISA, apprehended the terrorist Muhammad Bana, a senior terrorist was previously a part of the “Lion’s Den” terrorist network in the Nablus area. The terrorist was armed with an M-16 rifle and a spray grenade.

The terrorist was involved in shooting and explosive attacks toward the security forces in Judea and Samaria and had previously planned additional attacks. During his apprehension, he attempted to flee and was shot in his leg.

In addition, soldiers of the IDF’s Duvdevan unit, following the direction of the ISA, apprehended the terrorist Khalil Hanbali who was wanted by security forces due to his involvement in terrorist activity. The terrorist was involved in shooting attacks against IDF soldiers and served as a key weapon supplier. He had also attempted to plan additional attacks.”

On the Ground in Yemen

More massive strikes by the USAF overnight in all areas of Yemen–even the island of Kamran. At 7:20 pm last night, the Houthis launched another ballistic missile towards Israel. Fortunately, it disintegrated over and fell in Saudi Arabia.

Great News!

Former Gov. Mike Huckabee-one of the strongest supporters of Israel that you will ever find–was sworn in as U.S. Ambassador to Israel yesterday. It should be noted that when we say one of the strongest supporters “of Israel”, we are also referring to Judea and Samaria. We can only hope that his tenure will see Israeli sovereignty extended over Area C of our ancestral homeland where more than 500,000 Israelis now live.

The swearing in ceremony came after his confirmation in the Senate where the vote was 53-46. It speaks volumes that those 46 were every Democrat senator except Pennsylvania Sen. Fetterman. The Democrat Party support of Israel in the U.S. has sunk to an all-time low.

Ben Gurion Airport Is Back

514 flights are coming into and leaving Ben Gurion today carrying 82,000 passengers–the most in the last 18 months.

And so it goes in Israel on a windy and cooler than normal morning in Israel . . . so far . . .
