*Numerous terrorist incidents have occurred in the last 24 hours focusing on the Gaza border where there have been unsuccessful Palestinian attempts to blow up IDF soldiers with IEDs and in Judea, Samaria, and Jerusalem where there have been Border Guards and police wounded by “rock” and Molotov cocktail throwing.
The Jerusalem Police released a report today that showed that there have been 109 “rock” throwing and Molotov cocktail attacks in the Jerusalem area alone in the last week.
Perhaps the most interesting incident occurred this afternoon when four Molotov cocktails were thrown at the entrance to the Jerusalem tunnel that leads to Gush Etzion. When security forces arrived on the scene, they captured one of the terrorists who turned out to be one of the terrorists who was released several years ago in the Gilad Schalit exchange.
You may remember that at that time the Bereaved Families who ardently opposed the release of Palestinian terrorist prisoners warned that their release would lead to more attacks on Israelis. How right they were.
*As predicted in this blog yesterday, the worldwide effort to pressure Israel into talking with Hamas has begun with the European Union, the United Nations, and others applauding the terrorist organization’s reconciliation with the PLO.
The most absurd report of the morning was an officer of the United Nations who said that Abbas said that Hamas said that it was willing to recognize the existence of Israel.
Of course Hamas recognizes that “a Zionist entity” called Israel exists. That is why the Hamas charter explicitly calls for the destruction of the “Zionist entity.”

What is more, there is every indication that the Netanyahu coalition would have taken a decided turn to the “left” had the above proposals gone forward. The Jewish Home party led by Naftali Bennett as well as many members of Likud would undoubtedly have resigned in protest. They would have been replaced by the ultra-leftist Labor party.
One incredibly ironic aspect of the reconciliation deal is that while five days ago all the talk was about Bennett leaving the government, all the talk today is “why aren’t Tzipi Livni and her Hatnua party leaving the government?”
