U.S. Egyptian Policy in Disarray

First Mubarak was thrown under the bus and had to leave Egypt immediately. Then Mubarak was briefly resuscitated and had to immediately transfer power. Now Mubarak is out of the emergency room and has to stay in control until his term runs out to avoid chaos and anarchy. Once again, the lack of a coherent U.S. foreign policy in the Israel neighborhood is on full display. Is this disarray emanating from Obama? from Clinton? from the ‘professionals’ in the State Department? Whoever is responsible has exposed the U.S. to ridicule in the region. This morning news reports in Israel and elsewhere are abuzz about how the U.S. response to events in Egypt has been that of rank amateurs.  One can only imagine what Mubarak himself must think.
