The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
In Judea and Samaria:
By nightfall, Hadas Tapuchi was dead, the victim of a Palestinian “rock” attack.
She died when the car she was driving hit a truck in head-on collision on Road 465 near Ateret. The police, as usual, were quick to term the collision “an accident”; however, by evening, they were forced to change “an accident” to “a terror attack” when an IDF tracker found the rocks that were thrown at her car that caused Hadas to swerve into the lane of the oncoming truck.
Regular readers of israelstreet know that Road 465 is one of several roads in Judea and Samaria on which “rock” and Molotov attacks happen almost everyday.
At Hadas’ funeral a few hours ago, she was eulogized in these ways.
By a friend:
“Every place where Hadas entered, the atmosphere changed, as if into a Shabbat atmosphere; nobility, willingness to help. Every corner where she put her hand became like a flower.”
By her brother:
“Our little sister, with the bright eyes, with the rolling laughter. The ways of G-d are hidden; there’s a tremendous void in our lives. There was so much righteousness in you, awe of Heaven, modesty, kindness, and pleasantness. We’ll make sure to continue your path . . . Hadas, we draw strength from your joy and your goodness.”
Hadas Tapuchi (1989-2019), May Her Memory Always Be Blessed
*Aside from the above attack at Ateret, there were other “rock” and Molotov attacks at Walleje, Ma’ale Amos, the Bypass Junction north of Kiryat Arba, Al-Khader, Road 458, near Al-Mu’ayyir, the Maccabim Checkpoint, Shukba, Tekoa, on Road 446, Hizma, and Hawara among other places.
On the Gaza border:
Now that our soldiers have once again been given “no fire” orders, Hamas terrorists are finding it increasingly easy to penetrate the border fence.
Yesterday 4 Palestinian terrorists infiltrated from southern Gaza, destroyed military equipment at an IDF post, and then waltzed back into Gaza.
The Temple Mount explodes in riots . . .
335 Jews and Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel went up to the Temple Mount yesterday. In reaction, thousands of Arabs staged a major riot on the Mount in which policemen were blocked from accessing the Mount and roughed up by the crowd.
How did our police react to this violence?
By doing nothing.

TODAY’S BLOG:
The Utter Immorality of Benny Gantz:
“I am proud that I am on the moral side.”
“We warned the hospital to make sure there was no one there. No one was. Then the Golani wanted to attack; I was there, and I personally told them to wait, and we took a risk at the expense of Golani soldiers. Once again we made sure that there was no one there; then, we called the hospital managers again, and only after we had checked again did I give permission to attack the place.”
Former IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz speaking about an incident during the 2014 war with Hamas in a video that has just come to light courtesy of Hakolhayehudi.
In that incident, soldiers from the Golani Brigade came under intense fire from the Shifa Hospital in Gaza. Not only were they being hit by machine gun fire, but also RPGs were being fired at them out of the upper floors of the hospital and from the roof.
Members of the Golanis were hit and wounded–some badly.
Because everyone knew beforehand that all of the patients in the hospital had long since been evacuated, the Golanis asked for permission to return fire.
Gantz, even though he was not there in person but was watching by video feed, refused. He ordered that another warning be issued to the hospital. Again, the message came that there were no Palestinian civilians in the hospital.
Again, the Golani commander asked for permission to attack.
Again, Gantz refused–knowing full well that our soldiers were being wounded on the ground.
Once again, we made sure no civilians were in the hospital. And once again the Golani commander asked for permission to attack, and once again Gantz refused.
This time, Gantz ordered that the Golanis contact the hospital administrators to find out if there were no civilians in the hospital. Once again, we were told that there were none.
After all of this, Gantz gave the Golani commander permission to attack.
In telling this story about how he needlessly exposed our soldiers to being wounded and possibly killed, Gantz commented: “I do not feel ashamed of my actions. I’m proud of them. I am proud that I am on the moral side.”
On the moral side?
Where is the morality of sacrificing the lives of our soldiers on the altar of humanitarian political correctness? Ok, we determined that there were no civilians in the hospital. But to determine that again, and again, and again–while our soldiers are under intense attack is not moral; it is exemplary of utter immorality and a military leader exhibiting the worst form of military incompetence.
More than all of this, think about what this says about how the IDF General Command has now completely hamstrung all of our commanders on the ground. No attack can be ordered anywhere without first seeking the advice of a lawyer from the Military Advocate General’s office embedded (or not) with the unit.
And then, the IDF Command itself–far from harm’s way but interacting remotely by video– must approve the attack.
It is an impossible situation for our soldiers on the ground.
And to think that Benny Gantz wants to be Israel’s next prime minister. He would protect the country in the same way he protected his soldiers–by throwing us under the bus.
