The Letter of the Day
(A Complaint filed against the IDF Military Spokesman to the Israel Ombudsman)
To the Ombudsman,
My name is Meirav Cohen, and I am a resident of Kibbutz Ein Hashlosha located in the Gaza envelope, 3 km from the border with the Gaza Strip.
Recently, we residents of the area recognize unacceptable behavior on the part of the IDF spokesman that may even prove dangerous and life-threatening.
This is because of false messages issued by the IDF Spokesperson regarding what is happening on the border of the Gaza Strip and around Gaza.
We, who live in the area and experience the events in the flesh can instantly know when the messages are false . . .
Yesterday, for example, several minutes after a missile explosion was heard in our community and at other communities in Sha’ar Hanegev, the spokesman issued a false statement. He delusionally said that there was no missile launched from Gaza.
I repeat, we are exposed to all of the attacks – we hear them – we see some of them – and we know of their existence from first hand observation. . . Who instructs the spokesman to make such false statements? They are dangerous and irresponsible.
Unfortunately, the credibility of the IDF spokesman and the military authority is currently close to zero because they have lost their integrity, and in an emergency we can not take them seriously and abide by the guidelines. Any kind of bodily injury suffered by the residents of our communities can be laid at the feet of the spokesman.
Meirav Cohen-Ein Hashlosha
Your humble servant could not have said it better–in fact, it is the same message that I have been communicating for years. The IDF actively suppresses factual information about what is happening along the Gaza border. But more than merely suppressing the information, it also issues one false statement after another. The result is that the lives of those living on the border are put in jeopardy.
The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
On the Gaza border:
*Palestinian terrorists in Gaza launched one missile toward southern Israel last night which fortunately exploded on the Gaza side of the border.
*Palestinian terrorists in Gaza launched numerous incendiary balloons and kites into southern Israel yesterday. At least three fires were reported–two in the Kissufim Forest.
In Judea and Samaria:
Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis with Molotovs and “rocks’ on the Gush Etzion-Jerusalem Road, Luban a-Sharqiya, at the Tunnels Checkpoint, Beitar, the Al-Khader Junction, Nahalin, Nahliel, and at various sites around Hevron, among other places.
Good news, but . . .
Yoad Zeguri, the lone soldier we wrote about yesterday, awoke yesterday for the first time since he was critically wounded on the Gaza border.
He awakened after the second of three operations to remove shrapnel from his neck. The operation yesterday was to repair his throat.
A third operation will be performed in the coming week. It is a risky procedure and Yoad’s life still hangs in the balance. Please continue to pray for him.
One house at a time . . .
As we have often reported, eastern Jerusalem is gradually, incrementally, restored to its Jewish roots. Often, this is taking place one house at a time.

Yesterday, another house in the Baka neighborhood of the Muslim Quarter which had been confiscated by the Jordanians in the 1950s was returned to its Jewish owners who had been evicted.
In fact, the house had been empty for years; when Jews moved in yesterday, they immediately raised the Israeli flag on its roof.
More time in than out . . .
A rather amazing fact was published yesterday. During 2018, PM Netanyahu was out of the country for 58 days–almost two months.
Of course, every time Netanyahu leaves the country it is on official business; nevertheless, it is extremely expensive to fund his entire entourage each time.
Expect this information to become a major election issue.
This Friday is the day!

TODAY’S BLOG:
It Is Time For The Jews Of Europe To Leave Now!
“Anti-Semitism spreads like a poison in France.”
Christophe Castaner, Interior Minister of France
Castaner was commenting after a rash of anti-Jewish “events” in downtown Paris this past weekend. In one suburb, a Jew who was leaving a synagogue was wounded by pellets fired from an air gun.
Elsewhere in France, 80 Jewish graves were desecrated with swastikas in a cemetery near Strasbourg.
In Germany, statistics released last week showed that there was a 60% increase in “physical” anti-Semitic assaults in 2018.
Meanwhile, this is what greeted shopper in the Gorodok Shopping mall in Kiev, Ukraine today:
In your humble servant’s opinion, it is past time for European Jews to realize what is happening and for them to come to Israel.
