The News On The Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
In Judea and Samaria:
*A father (60) and son (17) were stabbed after a visit to a dentist’s office in Azzun yesterday (see more about this in TODAY’S BLOG below).
*Another stabbing was thwarted at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hevron when Border Guards captured a knife-wielding terrorist.
In Jerusalem:
Palestinian terrorists attacked our security forces in the Issawiya and El Beira neighborhoods overnight.
In Gaza:
*Hamas dramatically raised the stakes in the border war with Israel. A Hamas drone somehow evaded IDF forces and managed to drop an IED on an IDF vehicle. The vehicle was damaged but there were no Israeli casualties.
In response, the IAF hit more empty buildings and sand dunes in northern and central Gaza. As we all know by now, Israel warns Hamas in advance of attacks to be sure that “training facilities”, observation posts, and Hamas headquarters are all empty when our “attacks” take place.
*Dozens more explosive “balloons” were launched into southern Israel with resulting fires in several locations in the Eshkol region.

The stabbings that took place yesterday in Azzun are interesting from a number of perspectives.
In the first place, it might seem strange that Israelis went to Azzun to see a Palestinian dentist. After all, any regular reader of OneIsrael knows that “rock” and Molotov attacks are carried out by Palestinian terrorists there against Israelis on a daily basis.
However, what is not known by most people outside of Judea and Samaria is the degree to which Israelis travel to Palestinian-controlled Area B areas. They go there to shop for food, take their cars for repair to garages, and to do other things like going to the dentist.
In short, there is coexistence between Palestinians and Israelis–albeit an uneasy one.
So, it really comes as no surprise that a father and his son went to the dentist in Azzun. Apparently, they had been going to same dentist for over a year.
What is interesting about the dentist is that he is a Fatah (PLO) member who has served 4 years in prison for terror activities.
So, what happened?
Apparently, the father-son had finished their dental treatment, but were still in the office when a 15-year-old terrorist came in the door.
His question was direct: “Are you an Arab or a Jew?”
Note that he did not ask: “Are you a Palestinian or a Jew?”, and he did not ask: “Are you an Arab or an Israeli?”
Think about that for a moment.
Here is a person who has been raised in Azzun all his life, gone to school in Palestinian schools, and yet he did not ask if they were “Palestinians.” One wonders to what degree he identifies as a Palestinian.
On the other hand, it is no surprise at all that he did not use the word “Israeli.” For Arabs in Areas A and B (and elsewhere outside of Israel), the enemy is not Israel, the enemy are “the Jews.”
In any case, he stabbed the father and son.
Then, in what can only be described as a shocking turn of events, the dentist came out of his treatment room, grabbed the terrorist, and pinned him against the wall until the father and son could escape.
Go figure.
We can only surmise because of his assistance, the dentist will suffer the same fate as the Palestinian who helped the family of murdered Rabbi Mark. He will be ostracized from Palestinian society.
Finally, as you can see from the above photograph, the father managed to get to the Elijah Checkpoint and the safety of IDF soldiers.
The whole incident gives us much to think about.
