The Bizarre Yet Unsurprising Quote of the Day
“I do not know how to tell you about last night, I think there was a reaction, but it could be that … hoarding … could also be, but we are not obliged to act according to their actions. We have our watch, our considerations, but we hurt them. We have deprived them of capabilities. Great and important capabilities. I do not want to reveal all our considerations here, I think Hamas and Islamic Jihad have made a very big mistake, and if they continue in that direction, there may be no choice, they will have to learn it in the flesh.”
PM Netanyahu responding to a question about the IDF attacking in Gaza Sunday night in response to the explosive balloon and missile fire.
Say what? Hoarding? What kind of blathering is this?
Netanyahu didn’t have a clue whether there was an IDF attack or not. And then he devolves into his stock answer of how badly we have hurt them . . . blah blah blah . . . how Hamas and Islamic Jihad have made a very big mistake . . . blah blah blah . . . and how if they continue what they are doing there may be no choice . . . blah blah blah . . . but to strike them harder (in the flesh) . . . blah blah blah.
It turns out that there was no attack on Gaza; Hamas and Islamic Jihad’s capabilities have not been hurt at all; and the terror groups have made no mistake as Israel and Qatar have once again kowtowed to their demands.

The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
Another day of massive fires on the Gaza Border: firefighters fought to extinguish 34 that were ignited by explosive balloons.
At 2:19 am this morning, a huge explosion rocked Sderot, but no one seems to know what caused it. Was it a missile impact that was not alarmed or an RPG that detonated over the city?
In Judea and Samaria:
Luban A-Sharqiya, Al-Aruv, Road 443, the Gush Etzion-Hevron Road, near Beit El: these were a few of the more than a dozen locations where Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis with “rocks” and Molotovs.
The daily Corona (Covid-19) update as of 8 am this morning . . .
There are 116,596 confirmed cases—an increase of 2,576 since this time yesterday
95,004 of these confirmed cases have recovered—an increase of 2,213
437 are in critical condition–an decrease of 7
125 of the most critically ill are on ventilators—a decrease of 2
939 have died–an increase of 20
There are 21,592 active cases.
Lab technicians are back to work; hence the increase in the number of newly confirmed cases.
Note that the number of deaths increased by 20; as the Health Ministry said yesterday, the number of Corona deaths in the last month alone is more than the number of Corona deaths in all previous months.
Back to school in the shadow of Corona . . .
2.4 million Israeli schoolchildren went back to school this morning, but not all of them were in the classroom.
Children in “red cities and towns” are required to study remotely if possible–otherwise their school opening is postponed.
Here is a list of those locations: Dalit al-Carmel, Ein Mahel, Emanuel, Kafr Qassem, Espia, Lakia, Bin Jen, Ma’ale Iron, Ibelin, Kfar Bara, Jaljulia, Kfar Aza, Al-Batuf, Kaabiyah-Tabash-Hajjajra, Jadeida-Makr, Umm al-Fahm, Jat, Tiberias, Beitar Illit, and Kfar Kana.
As you have undoubtedly noticed from this list, most of the locations are in Druze and Israeli-Arab communities. Notable exceptions are Tiberias, Emmanuel, and Beitar Illit.
The number of unemployed continues to rise . . .
Central Bureau of Statistics numbers show that there were 241,800 unemployed in the first half of August compared to 230,500 in the second half of July.
TODAY’S BLOG:
As We Predicted . . .
It didn’t take rocket science to make two predictions over the last week which came true yesterday.
First, your humble servant predicted that with the “Normalization Agreement” with the UAE would come the effort of the UAE to become the voice of the Palestinians and an effort to use the UAE’s newly found leverage to determine facts on the ground in Judea and Samaria.
No sooner had the El Al plane landed in Abu Dhabi yesterday than the Foreign Minister of the UAE rushed to the microphone to declare that “an independent Palestinian state with its capital East Jerusalem” was a main priority of the Emirates.
Not Iran, but a Palestinian state.
Secondly, we predicted yesterday that Israel would sign a blackmail agreement with Hamas in which Hamas would get everything it demanded.
And so it happened. Qatar has agreed to increase monthly payments to $27 million dollars to Hamas terrorists; Israel has agreed to immediately reopen the Kerem Shalom Crossing, increase the fishing (weapons smuggling) range back to 25 miles, rush fuel into the Gaza power plant, and dramatically assist Hamas is thwarting the Corona outbreak in Gaza (ironic since Israel cannot stop the outbreak in Israel.)
And what did Israel get?
Nothing except supposed “calm”. Let’s see if the explosive balloon barrage stops today or it continues. I predict that . . . (you can fill in the rest of the sentence dear reader).
