The News on the Israeli Street
On the subject of Corona . . .
There are still only 21 verified cases of Omicron in Israel, yet Israel has decided to extend the restrictions at Ben Gurion Airport for another 10 days.
Those restrictions are:
*No foreign citizens are allowed to land in Israel.
*All inbound Israelis who have been vaccinated must quarantine for 3 days after which they take a second PCR test (in addition to one they took upon landing). If both tests are negative, they are out of quarantine. If not, they must go to a Corona Hotel.
In addition to these restrictions, PM Bennett is pushing for a complete ban on traveling outside the country for Israelis who are unvaccinated, and for shopping malls to institute a check to make sure that no shoppers enter who are not vaccinated with a booster.
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
Palestinian terrorists attacked Israeli motorists with Molotovs and “rocks” at Shavei Shomron, Al Fawwar, on Road 465 near Deir Abu Mash’al, Ketavim, between the Al Khader Junction and the Tunnel Checkpoint, Reihan, and at a least a dozen other locations.
Palestinian terrorists attacked Israeli buses at Hizma, Anatot, Tekoa, Mevo Dotan, and at Pondok.
TODAY’S BLOG
This Government’s Insane Embrace of the PLO
First, some context.
The PLO (aka the Palestinian Authority) works night and day to undermine Israel.
The PLO does nothing to stop and actually encourages the terrorism emanating from its areas of A and B of Judea and Samaria such as the ones described above that happened yesterday. The PLO pushes resolution after anti-Israel resolution in the United Nations such as the one that passed the General Assembly yesterday.
It urges the International Criminal Court to investigate supposed Israeli war crimes; it urges the European Union to fund illegal Palestinian settlements in Area C of Judea and Samaria; and it engages in incitement against Israel which results in a never-ending parade of terror attacks on Israelis especially in and around the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
In a surreal response to these actions, Ronen Bar, the head of Israel’s Shin Bet, told the political-security cabinet yesterday that “the PLO is in a difficult economic and governmental situation” and therefore “Israel must work to strengthen the PLO.” Bar was followed by senior IDF officers who conveyed the same message: “We must take immediate action to strengthen the PLO.”
In concert with Bar and the IDF, our so-called “Defense” Minister Benny Gantz finished his meeting in Washington yesterday with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken. While the meeting was supposed to have been about Iran, it ended up with Gantz assuring Blinken that “Israel is . . . promoting confidence-building measures for the Palestinians, including civilian and economic measures that professional teams are currently working on.”
Let’s put Gantz’s assurance in different words:
Israel’s “confidence-building measures” are concessions to the PLO in terms of building more Palestinians homes in Area C of Judea and Samaria, freezing construction of Jewish homes in Area C, allowing ever more Palestinians into Israel, turning a blind eye to Palestinian incitement, and a myriad of other items.
In sum, we here at OneIsrael simply cannot understand this government’s headlong embrace of a terrorist entity that is doing all it can to undermine and eradicate this country.
No matter how much the Biden Administration, Naftali Bennett, Yair Lapid, and Benny Gantz want to claim that the PLO has now become “the good guy”, the PLO remains a terror organization wholly dedicated to undermining and eradicating this country.
Our government’s headlong embrace of the PLO is utterly insane.
