The “Yawning” Quote of the Day

“The escalation against the Palestinians continues; Lapid breaking through the Nablus Gate will lead to an explosion of the situation not only in Palestine but in the entire region.”

PLO Chairman Mahmoud Abbas commenting on FM Yair Lapid’s surprise visit to the Sha’ar Shechem (Nablus Gate).

Threat, threat, threat, threat, threat . . . there is no end to threats coming out of the mouths of the PLO, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and Palestinian ISIS.

The world will come to an end if we go to the Nablus Gate in our capital city of Jerusalem (PLO). The world will come to an end because we killed the 3 terrorists who were about to murder scores of Israelis (Islamic Jihad). The world will come to an end if Itamar Ben Gvir looks at the Al-Aksa Mosque (Hamas).

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

According to the IDF Chief of Staff this morning, “ten “certain” terror attacks have been thwarted by IDF forces in the last two weeks.

The daily Corona update . . .

10,788 new cases of Corona were confirmed yesterday bringing to 61,928 the total number of Israelis with an active case of Covid-19.

The positive test rate was 17.93%.

242 Israelis are in serious condition in hospitals with another 107 in critical condition on ventilators.

10,532 Israelis have died of Corona–2 since yesterday.

The good and bad economic news . . .

There has been a sharp decline in unemployment in Israel in February and March. In fact, the unemployment rate is now only 3.2% (135,900 unemployed)–one of the lowest figures in the world.

Also good are the constantly rising salaries of high-tech workers in Israel rising to IT programmers receiving 29,558 shekels ($9,208) per month, and of the workers in the field of scientific research and development 29,481 ($9,184).

On the negative side is the fact is that the average wage of non-high tech workers decreased by 3% over the last few months to 11,784 shekels ($3,671) per month.

The conclusion–unemployment numbers may be low because Israelis are taking low-paying jobs.

Some survey numbers from The Israeli Voice Index of the Israel Democracy Institute . . .

18% of Israelis trust the Minister of Homeland Security, Amar Bar-Lev.

85% of Jewish Israelis believe that the penalties imposed by Israeli courts on terrorists are too lenient.

83% of Israeli-Arabs and 63.5% of Israeli Jews feel “personally insecure.”

78% of Israeli Jews believe that moral considerations are secondary when efforts are being made to prevent an imminent terror attack.

TODAY’S BLOG

“We are not sitting ducks.”

It was revealed today that educational tours for Golani soldiers (some of our elite infantry) in Jerusalem have been canceled.

Why?

One outraged Golani officer had this to say “We were supposed to have a tour of Mount Herzl as part of an education day. We are Golani fighters, the commanders tell us that this tour was canceled due to the security situation. Later we talked to the headquarters to really find out why the tour was canceled and we were told that they were afraid we would attract the attention of Arabs in Ramadan and then some incident could happen.”

He continued:

“What is this thing? Since when are soldiers in the State of Israel with weapons afraid to take to the streets of Jerusalem lest they attract the attention of Arabs or an incident? This is a delusional situation that such training days are canceled here because they are afraid to provoke Arabs in Jerusalem in Ramadan. We are not sitting ducks; we are IDF fighters with weapons.

This is what it has come to in Israel with everyone trembling at Arab reaction to the least little thing. Israel has elevated Ramadan to a glorified status, and even our IDF soldiers must vacate the streets and show bended knee deference to Muslim whims and threats.

It is totally ridiculous.
