The Photos of the Day

An Iranian drone of the type being sold to Russia for use in the Ukraine. Note the name of the drone on the fuselage.

One of hundreds of advanced Iranian drones being sold to Russia for use in the Ukraine. Note the name of the drone on the fuselage.

An official of the U.S. State Department warned yesterday that teams of Russians are now in Tehran being trained in the operation of sophisticated Iranian “predator drones.” The Russians want to use the drones in the Ukraine, but it is a statement of the major strides the Iranians have made in drone construction and production.

The drone deal comes on top of the Russian launching of Iranian satellites (1 already launched and 5 more planned in coming months) specifically designed to spy on Israel.

What animals are you looking at?

What animals are you looking at? (photo Dotan Rotem).

Not what you would necessarily expect to see in Israel, but this photo from the Nature and Parks Authority shows a striped hyena carrying a deer it has killed. The photo was made near Zofar, a community in the Negev Desert.

The Truly Disgusting Video of the Day

Click here to see how our “Defense” Minister Benny Gantz is destroying young impoverished Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria while completely ignoring illegal upscale Palestinian construction. Please note that the 4 minute video is in Hebrew but you will quickly understand the situation as the drone first flies over destroyed Jewish homes and then flies over luxurious illegal Palestinian homes.

Today on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Palestinian terrorists attacked a bus carrying soldiers between Chomesh and Shevai Shomron. No soldiers were wounded; the terrorists escaped.

12 Palestinian terrorists were captured overnight in Hevron, Akbara, and Savachara among other places.

Isis in Israel . .

Two residents of Umm al-Fahm and another from Rafieh have been arrested “on suspicion of intending to carry out terrorist activities on behalf of Islamic State.”

Never ending carnage . . .

As you can imagine, the driver was killed.

As you can imagine, the driver was killed.

More horrendous traffic accidents during the last 24 hours: a pedestrian was run over in Holon and is in critical condition; an electric scooter rider was also hit in Holon and is in serious condition; the driver of the above car was killed–the circumstances of the crash are under investigation.

The Mecca fiasco expands . . .

As you may not know, Channel 13 reporter Gil Tamari sneaked into Mecca several weeks ago and took selfies of himself at various Islamic shrines–and then showed them in his “report” on Israeli television.

The Saudis of course were outraged in that non-Muslims are not permitted in Mecca.

Tamri has since apologized for his ridiculous stunt, but that has not assuaged the Saudis.  The Saudi driver who took Tamri to Mecca has been arrested and may be executed.

Yesterday, the chief imam of Mecca who coordinates his sermons with King of Saudi Arabia raged against Jews and recited Koranic verses condemning Jews.

More price increases . . .

As if the situation was not already bad enough, the consumer price index rose by 1.1% in July over that in June.

The cost of practically everything here rose led by fresh fruit (8,5%), transportation (3.3%), and culture and entertainment (1.1%).

All of this may not seem like much but remember it was only for the month of July. Multiply these numbers by 12 and you get the increase on a yearly basis.

About the traffic jam that is Israel . . .

We have been writing recently about how Israel has turned into one big traffic jam.

This morning comes news that 15 high-tech companies in Tel Aviv are setting up a private transportation system to serve their ten thousand employees. The companies include:  Munday, Iron Source, Haybove, Aramis, Faber, Nvidia, Check Point, Hav Security, Cyberzen, and the Herzog Fox Naeman law firm.

Ayelet Bitan, the Chief of Staff at Hav Security spoke for many: “The congestion on the roads causes mental and physical fatigue, and this is a significant harm to the well-being of the employees, who start the workday in a sub-optimal state.”

TODAY’S BLOG

An Unbearable Tragedy

A 20-year-old Israeli soldier from Netanya, Sgt. Natan Pitousi, was killed last night by his friend who mistook him for a terrorist. Apparently, he momentarily left his military group which was engaged in an intense operation on high alert in Tulkarm to go pray, and when he returned he was accidentally shot. What an unbearable tragedy.

Sgt. Natan Pitousi. May his memory always be for a blessing.
