The News on the Israeli Street

The war in Judea, Samaria, and Jerusalem.

IDF forces in conjunction with Shin Bet thwarted a terror cell from Jenin that was on its way to carry out a terror attack in Israel. 3 terrorists were killed including a leading Islamic Jihad terrorist who was the head of the squad.

Shooting attacks:

Palestinian terrorists opened fire on civilians near Avni Hefetz.

Palestinian terrorists opened fire on IDF troops in Kalax.

Palestinian terrorists opened fire on IDF troops in Jenin.

Palestinian terrorists opened fire on IDF troops in Shechem.

IED, “rock”, and Molotov attacks:

A horrific attack in Jerusalem in which 5 masked terrorists throwing bricks and blocks of concrete (aka “rocks”) smashed a car carrying a mother, father, and 3 children. The mother and the children were all wounded and evacuated to Hadassah. The terrorists escaped.

Palestinian terrorists attacked on Road 55 between the small and large Yitzhar Junctions, at the Nabi Yakin Junction, at the Ma’ale Hevar Junction, Beit Omer, south Qalqilya (gas grenade thrown at IDF pillbox), and at a myriad of other locations.

What’s going on in Lebanon? . . .

The governments of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, France and others have just ordered their diplomatic personnel and citizens to leave the country immediately.

No one seems to know what intel they have that we don’t.

The attack in Syria overnight . . .

Israeli aircraft attacked Iranian assets in the Damascus area overnight. They Syrians report that 4 Syrian soldiers were killed.

What did the Court decide yesterday? . . .

The High Court of Justice (aka Supreme Court) set an unfortunate precedent by interfering in the enacting of the so-called “Incapacitation Law”an amendment to the Basic Judiciary Law.

Never before has an Israeli High Court arrogated to itself the power to interfere with a Basic Law or an Amendment to one.

But this High Court/Supreme Court has no reservations about doing so.

What did they rule?

They issued a temporary injunction against the Amendment going into effect, and ordered the government to appear in Court to defend why the Amendment should go into effect now and not until the next Knesset is seated (after the next election in October 2026). They also declared that 11 Justices will hear that response.

Is anyone surprised?

Of course not.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Appeasing The PLO Does Not Bring Peace

It just amazing how the preposterous liberal idea that giving terrorists money and concessions so that they will stop terror continues to prevail in Israel.

Here, it is a notion that goes back at least as far as the Oslo Accords; Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres absurdly believed that by making concession after concession to the Palestinians that peace would be brought to Israel.

How wrong they were.

All the concessions brought more and more terror–witness the second intifada and its 169 suicide bomb attacks, and the terrorism that has followed for the last 15 years.

But still our governments insist on following this failed paradigm.

Yesterday, following months of unremitting terror–and a weekend of terror in Tel Aviv and at Burka, our Coalition government decided on the following concessions to the Palestinians:

1. Easing (aka “noncollection) of tax money from the Palestinians.

2. Expanding the hours of operation at the Allenby Crossing.

3. Allocating land at Tarkamiyya to the PLO to build an industrial Zone.

4. Forgiving all PLO debt to Israel.

Actually, within the Cabinet, there was no vote on any of these concessions. They were all made in advance by PM Netanyahu, and all of the ministers except for Minister of Finance Smotrich and Minister of National Security Ben Gvir went along with Netanyahu’s decisions like sheep.

This was the part of the discussion, as reported yesterday, between Ben Gvir and Netanyahu at the Cabinet meeting:

Ben Gvir: “I don’t understand the logic, I don’t understand the thinking. I think that in principle, this is a terrorist authority, with whom we must not negotiate. But also in your opinion, right now? Is this the time?”

Netanyahu: “We must stabilize the authority (aka PLO) and these decisions that I approved do not endanger the security of the state.”

Ben Gvir: “This is an authority that finances terrorism, educates terrorism and it would be a big mistake to give them relief.”

Your humble servant leaves it to you dear readers to decide.

Do you agree with PM Netanyahu or with Ben Gvir?
