Good News!
*A Hamas “work accident” happened at Deir al-Balah in central Gaza yesterday that sent a plume of smoke over several neighborhoods:
The good news is that 1 terrorist was killed and another critically wounded when the bombs they were working on to kill Israelis detonated.
*The Israeli Basketball Association was chosen as the best basketball association in Europe in a ceremony in Manila this morning. Those not living in Israel probably do not know the degree to which Israelis love basketball and support their local teams.

Shin Bet revealed yesterday that it had uncovered a 4-man cell based in Kfar Qasem that was receiving “high quality” weapons and ammunition from Iran via Hezbollah:

Shooting attacks:
Palestinian terrorists fired on Israelis at Bet Hefer.
Palestinian terrorists fired on Israelis at Avni Hefetz.
Palestinian terrorists fired on IDF troops in Kabatia.
Palestinian terrorists fired on IDF troops in Jaba in northern Samaria.
Molotov, IED, and “rock” attacks:
Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis at Kfar Nahlin (IDF post set on fire with Molotovs), Al Abuv, Singil, Luban al-Sharqiya, on Road 60 near Hawara, in the area around Tekoa, and at dozens of other locations.
The women’s march through Bnei Brak . . .
As you may not know Bnei Brak, a city beside Tel Aviv, is deeply orthodox. To taunt the orthodox, women’s groups were given police permission to parade and demonstrate in the city yesterday.
It wasn’t enough for the women to parade and demonstrate.
Many of them went out of their way to antagonize and provoke every religious person they saw:

The IDF Stops Arresting Terrorists?
If you can believe this, the Israel Prisons Service has demanded that the IDF stop arresting terrorists because of the overcrowding conditions in Israeli prisons–and the IDF has apparently acquiesced.
Even more, the Prisons Service requested that the army “not carry out administrative detentions, which are used to stop terrorists who are considered ticking time bombs before they attempt an attack.”
Unbelievable.
Maybe if the Prisons Service removed all of the hotel accoutrements from the prison cells (television, kitchen, shelving, etc), there might be more room in each cell for additional prisoners.
On the other hand, such removals would probably not make much difference since the High Court of Justice has ruled that Israel must provide comfortable spatial requirements for prisoners.
On that absurd note . . .
A student from Malawi, who had worked with an Israeli health volunteer in his country battling AIDS, came up to us as we walked down the street in the UC-Davis Picnic Day Parade and wanted to carry the Israeli flag.
