The News on the Israeli Street
The war in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and Gaza.
Stabbing attack:
A female Palestinian terrorist from the Jenin area, who somehow got into Israel illegally, tried to stab a policeman near the Hota Gate in the Old City of Jerusalem last night. Fortunately, the policeman was wearing a vest which stopped the knife from penetrating. The terrorist was kicked to the ground and arrested. Click here to see a video of the incident provided by the police.
Shooting attacks:
Palestinian terrorists fired on IDF troops in Tulkarm. No Israelis were wounded. 1 terrorist was killed.
Palestinian terrorists fired on IDF trooops in Shechem.
Palestinian terrorists fired on IDF troops in Kfar Yavad.
Palestinian terrorists fired on IDF troops and civilians at Bet Ein.
Palestinian terrorists fired on IDF troops in Jenin.
IED, Molotov, “rock” attacks:
Palestinian terrorists tried to murder Israelis in Nur al-Shams (IED detonated under an IDF bulldozer), on Road 60 near Luban al-Sharqiya, on the the Gush Etzion-Hevron Road between the Tunnel Checkpoint and Al-Khader, and Kfar Tamon, among at least 3 dozen locations.
Explosives smuggling:
Security inspectors at the Kerem Shalom Crossing found 3 kilos of explosives (above) sewn into knock-off brand name clothing produced in Gaza headed to Ramallah. The Crossing has been temporarily closed.
Netanyahu on tour . . .
During the time of the preceding government, we endlessly criticized Yair Lapid and Benny Gantz for their endless trips abroad.
We now see the beginning of the Netanyahu road show. The past few days Netanyahu and his entourage have been in Cyprus meeting with the Cypriot and Greek leaders.
The meeting was important to help solidify energy transformations taking place in the eastern Mediterranean maritime basin and to tout the possibilities of normalization with Saudi Arabia, but Netanyahu could have accomplished that in a zoom call or even a one-day summit.
Instead, Netanyahu the globetrotter has begun his trips to 7 different countries in the next two months.
All on the public dole.
Disaster on the roads exacerbated . . .
As your humble servant has often written, the situation on the roads in Israel is a disaster. Monster traffic jams coupled with crazy, out of control drivers has produced a traffic nightmare. Not a day goes by that horrific traffic accidents don’t take place.
The obvious solution is to limit the number of cars on the road, but this idea is abhorrent to the car monopolies here.
Just this morning, it is reported that since January 1, 222,487 new cars have been delivered to dealers—24,727 in August alone (a 21% increase over the number last August).
The top selling cars are in order: Hyundai, KIA, Toyota, and BYD.
In case you have never heard of BYD, this is the new Chinese electric/hybrid car beginning to flood the market here (BYD stands for Build Your Dreams).
TODAY’S BLOG
The World According to PLO Chairman Mahmoud Abbas
We all know that the PLO Chairman so adored by the Israeli Left–even to the point of being invited into the home of Benny Gantz–wrote his doctoral thesis at Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow on how the Holocaust has been greatly exaggerated.
This has not stopped Abbas from being wined and dined by everyone from Joe Biden to Emanuel Macron. The door of every country is always open to this vile Holocaust denier.
Abbas has continued to preach his Holocaust revisionism throughout his life.
In a series of recorded lectures this past week, Abbas proclaimed that Jews were not murdered by the Nazis and their friends because of their Jewishness.
No, according to Abbas: “[Historians] say that Hitler killed them because of their Jewishness. Not so. The Nazis fought them because of their social role and not because of their religion. Hitler fought the Jews because they dealt in usury and money.”
Hitler did not order millions of defenseless Jews to be herded into ghettos, thrown into cattle cars, and railroaded to concentration camps where they were murdered. No, in the world according to the Palestinian Abbas, Hitler heroically “fought” the Jews.
And being Jewish had nothing to do with the slaughter of six million–most of whom lived in impoverished shtetls in eastern Europe. No, in the world according to the Palestinian Abbas, the barbaric slaughter was all about money.
More than this, Abbas goes on to ludicrously say that Jews were never expelled from Arab countries. Instead, in the world according to the Palestinian Abbas, Ben Gurion covertly sent Zionists to Arab countries to terrify the Jewish population in those countries into leaving.
It’s an old story about Jewish and Zionist conspiracies but worth repeating here because Abbas speaks for the Palestinians.
And worth repeating to remind those on the international and domestic “Left” that Abbas is a despicable human being who should never be negotiated with or welcomed anywhere.
