Maj. Tal Lahat
Maj. Tal Lahat, 21, from Kfar Saba, a fighter in the elite Magellan commando unit, was killed by a Palestinian sniper during a battle in central Gaza yesterday.
He was the 327th IDF soldier to have fallen in the Gaza Operation since October 27th.
The IDF reported yesterday that 9,250 soldiers have been physically or traumatically wounded: 70% of those wounded are reservists–with 35% of these suffering from PTSD. The IDF projects that some 5,000 more soldiers will be wounded by the end of the year.
On the Ground in Gaza

IDF forces are currently wrapping up their 3rd round of operations in Shujaieh. In this round, we have killed more than 150 terrorists and destroyed 9 more tunnels.
*IDF forces attacked numerous HamISIS locations overnight: Shujaieh, Al-Rimal, Nuseirat, the Saudi neighborhood west of Rafah, the Sabra neighborhood south of Gaza City, and Khan Younis.

By the way, following up on another Court ruling we reported on several days ago, 20 more terrorists captured in Gaza were unbelievably released back into Gaza yesterday because of a “shortage” of prison cells.
On the Ground in the North
*The IDF Spokesman: “Approximately 40 projectiles (missiles and drones) crossed from Lebanon into the area of the central Golan Heights. Several projectiles were identified falling in the area. Earlier today (Tuesday), the IAF struck a Hezbollah military structure in the area of Kfarkela.”

Raphael Slab, a resident of Kiryat Shmona, a leader of the “Fighting for the North” group, responding to the missile attack: “The red line has been crossed. Two dead in the north and no one in the leadership cares. If we don’t go to war [against Hezbollah] in the north now, it will be inexcusable. There is an opportunity here for the government and leadership that should not be missed. We must stop the “spot attacks” that don’t give an ounce of deterrence.

*Updated numbers since Hezbollah began attacking Israel:
29 Israeli civilians and soldiers have been murdered in missile and drone attacks.
180 Israeli civilians and soldiers have been wounded.
More than 7,200 missiles and drones have been launched toward northern Israel and the Galilee.
710 fires have been started.
*An IAF UAV strike killed the personal guard of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah who was accompanying a senior commander in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard from Syria to Beirut. Unusually, the attack took place in Syria on the Damascus-Beirut Highway.
On the Ground In Judea and Samaria
The Cabinet decision was made 10 years ago and further agreed to 3 years ago, but it was not until yesterday that the Samarian Jewish community of Avitar was “regularized” by declaring that the land that it sits on is “state land.”
Now, the community can finally file a development plan and become, in fact, the fully fledged 37th Israeli community in Samaria.

Believe It Or Not
The wars not withstanding, the Supreme Court ordered yesterday that PM Netanyahu must begin giving testimony in Cases 1000, 2000, and 4000 against him on December 2. It is estimated that his testimony will last for at least two months. Netanyahu had wanted to delay his testimony until the Spring, but the Court, unsurprisingly, ruled otherwise.
A student from Malawi, who had worked with an Israeli health volunteer in his country battling AIDS, came up to us as we walked down the street in the UC-Davis Picnic Day Parade and wanted to carry the Israeli flag.
