UPDATE 8:00 AM ISRAEL TIME
“Operation Long Arm” alternately translated as “Outstretched Arm”
Tweet of the Day
As you undoubtedly know by now, the IAF carried out a massive attack on the Yemeni port of Hodeida late yesterday afternoon and last night dropping more than 10 tons of explosives on weapons containers and oil tanks. The attack was carried out by 18 Israeli aircraft including 8 F35s.
Obviously, our planes had to be refueled in flight (and recklessly, some Israeli social media sites published photos of the refueling plane in the air over the Red Sea before the attack took place). Also obviously, the distance from Israel to Yemen is longer than the distance from Israel to Iran.
From the IDF Spokesman:
“The IDF spokesman announces that today, July 20, 2024, Air Force planes attacked targets of the Houthi terrorist regime in Yemen. All of our squadron returned safely. The attack was carried out in response to some 200 terrorist attacks of the Houthis against Israel since October 7, in which they launched hundreds of aerial threats, one of which caused the death of the Israeli citizen, Yevgeny Perder, and the wounding of several other civilians.
The Air Force planes went on an operational strike at a distance of over 2,000 km and attacked targets in the Hodeida port area in Yemen. The Hodeida port area serves as a supply route for the transfer of Iranian weapons from Iran to the Houthi terrorist regime and is a significant economic source for it. This is one of the attacks on the most distant targets from the territory of the State of Israel ever carried out by the Air Force.”
Already the Houthis have responded this morning by launching a surface-to-surface missile at Eilat. It was successfully shot down.
On the Ground in Gaza
*The IDF carried out numerous attacks throughout Gaza overnight. In the most significant strike more than 20 terrorists were killed in an attack on a HamISIS “barracks” in eastern Khan Younis.
*A plea for prayers: Neve Dekalim Yeshiva is asking for prayers for Yoni Aharon Ben Israel Greenblatt who was critically wounded in fighting in Rafah yesterday. Yoni was yet another yeshiva member who has been badly wounded in Gaza fighting.
On the Ground in the North
More than 60 missiles and drones were launched by Hezbollah against northern Israel yesterday. As a result of the falls, two IDF soldiers were moderately wounded in Katzrin and were evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment.
