UPDATE 10:00 AM ISRAEL TIME

The View from Ashdod and On the Ground in Gaza

There are so many versions of the apparently imminent ceasefire agreement with Hamas that have been leaked by people with little to no knowledge of negotiations that we here at OneIsrael are loathe to report any of them.

However, the Saudi newspaper Ashram Al-Awsat which is usually “fairly reliable” published what it says is the “outline” for the coming agreement. It includes:

*Multiple phases: the first phase will be between 45-60 days.

*In the first phase, the IDF withdraws from city centers but stays in the Netzarim and Philadelphi corridors in reduced numbers.

*In the first phase, women and children are allowed to return to northern Gaza. Men who have been vetted will be allowed to return in later phases.

*In the first phase, 30 hostages (living and dead) will be released. Also, Palestinian terrorists including “dozens” serving life sentences for murder will be released.

Obviously, the main objection that everyday Israelis will have to this agreement is the last point. 30 hostages living and dead? Dozens of murderous prisoners? Let’s sincerely hope that this aspect of the outline is incorrect.

The Netanyahu Circus Yesterday

It all started on Monday when PM Netanyahu asked the judges in his trial if he could postpone his appearance in court yesterday for “security reasons”. After calling the lawyers into their chambers, the judges agreed–and refused a media request to reveal the “security reasons.”

Immediately the media went wild with speculation.

Then yesterday morning, we awoke with the news that Netanyahu’s plane, Zion’s Wing, was on its way to Crete. To Crete? Why would Netanyahu be going to Crete?

A few hours later, Crete was corrected to Cyprus. Again, what in the world was so important in Cyprus?

A few hours later, we had video of PM Netanyahu going to the helicopter pad at Hadassah Hospital and taking off. Where could he be going?

The new speculation was Cairo with the probable reason that a hostage deal was about to be signed. We here at OneIsrael even briefly bought into this because of the number of reputable reporters who claimed this was his destination.

But no.

The next thing we saw was PM Netanyahu standing on top of the Syrian side of Mt. Hermon amidst a cohort of soldiers and Defense Minister Katz and IDF Chief of Staff Halevi:

And so, yesterday’s media circus came to an end. But a new circus has already begun this morning having to do with Itamar Ben Gvir–but that’s another story for tomorrow.

The High Court of “Injustice” Strikes Again

(Thanks to Elisha Yarde on Telegram for the elements of this piece)

Following a petition filed by Arabs from the Palestinian settlement of Ras Karkar at the urging of the extreme left-wing organization Yesh Din, the High Court of Justice ordered the complete destruction of the beautiful Aner springs near the community of Neriah in Binyamin:

“According to the High Court ruling, the state must demolish the 7 pools built on the site, as well as the many sitting areas erected in memory of the three boys and fighters from Neriah who fell in the current war.

It is amazing to see how the High Court of Justice no longer even tries to appear objective and balanced. Every petition filed by leftist organizations is automatically accepted and approved.

.And so it goes in Israel this morning . . . so far . . .
