TODAY’S FINAL UPDATE–9:00 PM ISRAEL TIME
Three more senseless deaths of soldiers in northern Gaza. They were all killed when the hummer they were riding in hit an IED.
Why were their deaths senseless? Because the hummer was unprotected against IEDs.
Someone in the IDF needs to explain why our soldiers are riding around in combat zones in unprotected vehicles. It is the height of negligence.
The three:
Maj. (Res.) Ori Moshe Borenstein, 32 years old from Moroshet, a commander in Administrative Assistance Unit 5460, Osbet ‘Bni’ – Or’ (460), fell in northern Gaza.
Maj. (res.) Netanel Hershkovitz, 37 years old, from Jerusalem, deputy company commander in Administrative Assistance Unit 5460, Bnei Or formation (460), fell northern Gaza.
Maj. (res.) Tzvi Matityahu Marantz, 32 years old, from Bani Adam, a class commander in administrative assistance unit 5460, Bnei Or formation (460), fell in northern Gaza.
The tragedy of these three deaths is overwhelming, but also the person critically wounded in the stabbbing in Hadera yesterday has also died.
Rafael Mordechai Fishof, a 35-year-old Hadera resident and father of six, died today of his wounds.
May The Memories Of These 4 Israelis,
Like So Many Others Who Have Fallen Before Them,
Be For A Blessing.
UPDATE 5:00 PM ISRAEL TIME
Hezbollah missile launches against Israel since 10:00 am today:
10:04 Manara, Margaliot, Kiryat Shmona; 11:14 Metulla, Kiryat Shmona, Misgav Am, Tel Hai; 11:19 Kfar Giladi, Metulla, Kiryat Shmona, Tel Hai; 13:56 Tel Hai, Kiryat Shmona, Beit Hillel, Metulla; 14:11 Metulla, Kiryat Shmona, Misgav Am, Tel Hai; 14:20 Misgav Am; 14:23 Majd al-Krum, Deir Al-Asad, Pekin, Mikhmanim, Hussniya; 14:36 Manara; 15:01 Manara, Kiryat Shmona; 15:44 Akko, Nahariya, Evron, Gesher HaZiv; 15:54 Kerem Ben Zimra, Ramat Dalton; 16:23 Kiryat Shmona, Margaliot; 16:58 Rosh HaNikra, Kiryat Shmona.
As you can see Kiryat Shmona has been hit by 8 barrages today and Metulla by 3. Despite all the work that the IDF is doing in southern Lebanon, the missiles continue falling like rain in these hard-hit cities.
Terror Attack Thwarted
Shin Bet revealed today that it has foiled a 5-man Israeli-Arab terror squat from Taibe that intended to carry out a car bomb attack on the Azrieli Mall in Tel Aviv.
The Curious Case of Esmail Kaani
The case of Gen. Kaani, the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Quds Force, just gets “curious and curiouser.”
To begin with, despite various reports from Iranian sources, he has not been seen since the last major bombing in Dahiya Beirut last week.
Some sites have said that he should be prayed for; others have said that he is healthy and is to receive a medal from Khamenei; and on and on.
Most bizarre is the new claim on some Iranian sites that Kaani is/was an Israeli spy for Mossad.
This afternoon comes the story from Sky News that when Kaani was taken in for questioning by Iranian security forces, he suffered a heart attack and is now in a Tehran hospital.
Who knows that to believe?
Speaking Of What To Believe
Remember how Tehran claimed that the Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon was not wounded in the pager attack.
Here we are more than a month later, and we have this photo of him in the hospital today:
Note that photo doesn’t show his right side or his hands.
UPDATE 10:30 AM ISRAEL TIME
Maj. Ganizate, 36 years old from Givat Shmuel was a fighter in Battalion 5030, Alon Brigade 228; he fell in battle in southern Lebanon.
Revital and Dvir were killed by a Hezbollah missile that hit Kiryat Shmona yesterday afternoon. They had taken their three dogs for a walk, and the missile hit before the incoming missile sirens sounded.
May The Memories Of These Three Israelis Be For A Blessing
The family of Yishai Nathaniel ben Tova Sarah who was critically wounded yesterday in Lebanon is asking for your prayers.
Follow Up From the Hadera Stabbing Attack Yesterday
A spokesman for the Hillel Yaffe Medical Center this morning said that 1 person remains in critical condition, 1 is in serious but stable condition, 1 more is in moderate condition, and 3 are in mild condition.
On the Ground in the North
Eliminated overnight:
Ahmad Moustafa al-Haj Ali, commander of the Houla Front. Responsible for thousands of missile attacks and anti-missile attacks on Kiryat Shmona and the surrounding area.
Mohammed Ali Hamdan, commander of Hezbollah’s anti-tank unit in the Meiss El Jabal area. Responsible for more than a dozen Israeli deaths from anti-tank missiles.
Hezbollah missile attacks:
Try to wrap your mind around this IDF Spokesman’s statement just before midnight last night:
“As of 23:00 today (Wednesday, October 9th), approximately 220 projectiles that were fired by the Hezbollah terrorist organization crossed from Lebanon into Israel. Overall, Hezbollah fired 360 projectiles toward Israeli territory.“
Does this mean that 140 “projectiles” were intercepted in Lebanon before they reached Israel? Your guess is as good as your humble servant’s.
The first Hezbollah missile attack of the day just took place at 10:00 targeting Misgav Am, Margaliot, Kiryat Shmona, Kfar Giladi, Tel Hai, Manara, Ma’ayan Baruch, Metulla, Kfar Yuval, HaGoshrim, Beit Hillel.
Seized by the IDF in the last week:
The sheer amount of Hezbollah weaponry being seized by the IDF during operations in southern Lebanon is staggering. Here are some photos released by the IDF yesterday:
In the photo above, note the “rocks”. Each one of these was a faux “rock” housing Hezbollah cameras and listening devices.
By the way, at the same area in which the above weapons are now housed, there is this “part” of one of the Iranian ballistic missiles fired at Israel which gives you some sense of the size of the weapon:
On the Ground in Syria
From the IDF Spokesman:
“The IAF attacked and eliminated in southern Syria a terrorist who promoted terrorist acts against Israel. Directed by Division 210, the IAF killed the terrorist Adham Jahot, a terrorist in the “Golan Bag” unit, an affiliate of the terrorist organization Hezbollah in Syria.
The terrorist passed information from Syrian regime officials to the Hezbollah organization, and passed additional information he collected on the Syrian front in order to use force against Israel in the Golan Heights.”
On the Ground in Gaza
*We listened here in Ashdod as IDF artillery shelled Jabaliya all night long in preparation for what the IDF is calling the final battle of Gaza. The IDF believes that Jabaliya is the final domino.
*Last night Hamas buildings in al-Saftawy west of Gaza City were blown up.
*The IDF also continued attacks in and around Rafah.
On the Ground in Judea and Samaria
In a “Fauda” like raid yesterday afternoon, an Israeli undercover team eliminated 4 terrorists in a car in the middle of Shechem. The 4 were all members of the Fatah’s (the PLO’s) Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade.
Over the Red Sea
Early this morning, the Air Force successfully intercepted an unmanned aircraft over the Red Sea. The drone did not cross into Israel. It is not known at this time if the drone came from Iraq or Yemen.
The Tense Netanyahu-Biden Telephone Conversation Yesterday
The leaks are overflowing this morning.
From the Israeli side: Biden demanded that Israel not hit Iranian nuclear or oil facilities, but Netanyahu refused to make that commitment. Moreover, Netanyahu refused to show the Bidenites Israel attack plans.
From the American side (as reported by ABC News): “While Bibi didn’t present a fully finalized vision for the counterattack on Iran to Biden, members of the administration were still relatively satisfied with the level of detail that was shared and felt the Israeli government was receptive to their arguments for sticking to conventional military targets rather than nuclear or oil production sites.
What’s the bottom line? It seems likely that whatever attack Israel will undertake will come after Yom Kippur, which begins at sundown on Friday and ends at sundown on Saturday.
