There have been a number of eventful days since your humble servant went out into the wilds of Vietnam with no internet.
May Their Memories Be For A Blessing
Sgt. Maj. Ofer Jung (right), 39, from Tel Aviv, a squad commander in the 8211th Battalion of the Ephraim Brigade, was killed in this morning’s attack at the Tiyasir Checkpoint in northern Samaria in which a terrorist wearing an IDF uniform breached the outpost perimeter and opened fire. Avraham Tzvika Friedman (left) was killed in the same attack. Six other soldier were wounded. The terrorist was eliminated.
Let’s just post a few snippets today:
*During January, IDF forces eliminated 55 terrorists and captured 380 more. More were killed and wounded this morning by continuous strikes on the Palestinian settlement of Tamum in northern Samaria.
*The IDF reports that of the 152 terrorists released at the outset Hostage agreement, dozens have returned to terror immmediately. 4 of them were killed while on their away to carry out a new attack. 33 have been re-arrested.
*By executive order, President Trump just withdrew the U.S. from the U.N. Human Rights Council and cut all aid to UNRWA.
*According to the Wall Street Journal President Trump has requested an aid package to Israel that includes 4,700 one thousand pound bombs worth $700 million, along with armored D9 bulldozers worth approximately $300 million dollars. The money would come from the $3.3 billion dollar annual U.S. allotment for military financing. The aid package needs Congressional approval which almost certainly be forthcoming.
*PM Netanyahu’s talks in Washington continue apace but one action that seems off the table is an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Trump seems much more interested in sending Gazans elsehwere. It was reported today that much to Egypt’s dismay, 100 thousand Gazans are already in Egypt.
And so it goes this evening in Israel . . .
A student from Malawi, who had worked with an Israeli health volunteer in his country battling AIDS, came up to us as we walked down the street in the UC-Davis Picnic Day Parade and wanted to carry the Israeli flag.
