Israel’s Devastating Surrender of Sovereignty to UNESCO

UPDATE 6 pm Israel time Thursday:

IAF footage of the moment that an Israeli missile hit a Hezbollah drone this afternoon.

*Two Israel Air Force jets shot down a Hezbollah drone over northern Israel earlier this afternoon. The drone, which apparently contained “only” photography equipment, was blown up about six miles out over the Mediterranean from Haifa.

*U.S. sources have reported that President Obama is now seeking to convene a “peace conference” in Washington in June. The conference would be composed of Obama, Netanyahu (with Tzipi Livni leading the way), PLO President Mahmoud Abbas, and Jordan’s King Abdullah. U.S. sources have also reported that President Morsi of Egypt and Turkish PM Erdogan as well as “other Arab leaders” are also being invited to participate. 

Let’s see: on one side we would have the PLO, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, and other countries like Saudi Arabia. All of these countries would be buttressed by President Obama. On the other side, we would have Tzipi Livni with Benjamin Netanyahu in tow.

It goes without saying that such a “peace conference” would be a disaster for Israel.

Can you believe that Israel has now given the viciously anti-Israel UNESCO the authority to decide what happens to the Mughrabi Bridge (to the right in this photograph) and to monitor all construction and archaeology at the Western Wall?

The rapidity with which Israel has been relinquishing its sovereign rights in recent months has been simply astonishing.

Beginning with Israel’s agreement back in November to petition Egypt about future Hamas violations of the so-called “peace” in southern Israel, we have seen Israeli retreats in virtually every arena.

Nowhere has this retreat been more dramatic than in Jerusalem–Israel’s eternal capital. Yesterday, an agreement was revealed that will have devastating effects for Israeli sovereignty over the Old City. 

Incredibly, Israel has reached a secret agreement with UNESCO, the virulently anti-Israel United Nations Education, Science, and Culture Organization*. According to this agreement:

1. UNESCO will have the authority to find a permanent solution to the Mughrabi Bridge.

2. UNESCO will have the authority to monitor all archaeological and construction work on the Western Wall.

3. UNESCO will have the authority to monitor all archaeological and construction work on the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem.

4. UNESCO will the authority to check “the ownership rights” of the Old City and its holy sites.

And what did Israel get for surrendering its sovereignty to some of the holiest places in Judaism?

Absolutely nothing . . . but a six month agreement that the Palestinians will postpone five proposals before UNESCO and will postpone other “anti-Israel” resolutions it wants to put forth at the U.N. Six months from now, the Palestinians will be at it again.

And why did Israel do this? According to the New York Times, “the agreement . . . was the direct result of visits by U.S. President Barack Obama and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry to the Middle East . . .” 

This entire UNESCO agreement is simply unbelievable and indicative of how far Israel has fallen under the “stewardship” of Benjamin Netanyahu.
