The Sad Pictures of the Day
Sometimes pictures can show what words cannot.
Here are two pictures of the Be’eri area that show the devastation wrought on southern Israel by the fires (photos were made by Tomer Nishri of Kfar Maimon:

TODAY’S BLOG:
A Pitiful State Of Affairs:
Israel Agrees To An “Undeclared Ceasefire”
Here’s the sequence of events yesterday:
Around 5 pm, an IDF patrol was hit by Hamas sniper fire. One of our soldiers was killed.
At 7:07 pm, the IDF retaliated by hitting eight terror “targets”; four terrorists were killed.
At 8:03 pm, the IDF began what it called “a large-scale attack” on Gaza.
At 8:23 pm, Palestinian terrorists in Gaza fired mortar shells into the area around Nahal Oz. No alarms were sounded to warn residents.
At 8:34 pm, Palestinian terrorists fired 3 missiles into an area of the Sha’ar Hanegev region around Nahal Oz and Alumim. 2 of them were intercepted by the Iron Dome system.
At 10:00 pm, Palestinian terrorists fired more mortar shells in the Nahal Oz area. No alarms were sounded to warn residents.
Later in the evening, a statement was released by the IDF claiming that the IAF and IDF attacked some 60 “structures and infrastructure” (read: empty buildings).
The IDF spokesman said that “three Qassam Brigades headquarters in the northern Gaza Strip, the headquarters of the Khan Yunis brigade in the southern Gaza Strip and the headquarters of the Al-Bureij battalion in the center of the Gaza Strip were completely destroyed.”
All were empty buildings. No terrorists were killed. The IDF undoubtedly warned the terrorists in advance.
Also included, according to the spokesman, were “factories and lathes for the manufacture of weapons, an entry shaft for terrorist tunnels, a plant used to produce components for underground infrastructures, a warehouse for unmanned aerial vehicles, military war rooms, training compounds, observation posts and more.”
All were empty buildings and positions. No terrorists were killed. The IDF undoubtedly warned the terrorists in advance.
At 11:24 pm, Israel and Hamas announced that they had agreed to Egyptian and U.N. mediation to establish a “calm“, or to use an Orwellian term, an “undeclared ceasefire.”
An undeclared ceasefire.
So here we are on Saturday morning after a day which saw Israel pummeled by fires started by incendiary devices, explosions caused by missile and mortar fire, and a dead IDF soldier killed by a Hamas sniper or snipers.
And we have agreed to a “calm”, an “undeclared ceasefire”, with the very terrorists who perpetrated these terrorist acts.
How pathetic can we get?
Very pathetic.
It is altogether a pitiful state of affairs best exemplified by the Netanyahu do-nothing “security” cabinet, our do-nothing “Defense” Minister Avigdor Lieberman, and our afraid to fight IDF general staff led by our do-nothing Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot.
It is a pitiful state of affairs in which all we do now is react. We will wait for the next balloon/kite fire, the next outburst of missiles and mortars, or the next dead IDF soldier before we will do anything.
And that is the worst of all: it is a pitiful state of affairs in which our brave soldiers now realize they are sitting ducks in the gunsights of Hamas snipers.
