Insanity At Israel’s Water Authority

Insanity abounds everywhere you look in Israel these days.

If you can believe this (and your humble servant cannot), the Chairman of the Israel Water Authority has just decided that Israel will double the amount of water that it annually transfers to Jordan from the Kineret (Sea of Galilee) from 50 million cubic meters to 100 million cubic meters.

Yes you read that correctly.

Our national lake, an icon of Israel, which in recent years was down to disastrously low levels and which has finally recovered to its normal level in the last year, is now going to be depleted again.

Depleted as a result of handing water over to the viciously anti-Israel regime in Amman.

It is simply insane.

A discussion is taking place later today led by Energy Minister Karin Elharar to analyze the security, political, and economic results of such a change.

One aspect of the political part of the discussion is to examine what political considerations Jordan will give Israel in return for the water.

Your humble servant can already tell you the answer.

None.

Jordan will make no considerations for Israel and will continue to lambaste Israel in every conceivable venue.

The decision of the Water Authority Chairman should be reversed immediately–but almost certainly it will not because Elharrar is from the leftist Yesh Atid Party controlled by Foreign Minister Yair Lapid.
