The News On the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

A female IDF soldier was badly wounded in a stabbing attack at the Nevo army outpost in the Jordan Valley. She was evacuated by helicopter to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerualem where she is currently listed in serious condition. Unfortunately, the Palestinian terrorist was captured and not killed.

Palestinian terrorists in Gaza continued launching explosive balloons into southern Israel starting at least 4 fires in the Eshkol Region. In response, the IAF attacked a Hamas weapons manufacturing building overnight. Of course, the building was empty.

A disturbing follow-up to yesterday’s blog . . .

Yesterday we reported the insanity of the Water Authority deciding to double the amount of water it would provide Jordan from the Kineret.

Late yesterday it was revealed that PM Bennett has agreed to increase the amount after being pressured by the Biden Administration.

Stop and think about this for a moment.

What in the world gives the arrogant Biden Administration the right to coerce Israel into depleting our national lake? Even worse, why in the world did PM Bennett agree to go along?

All in all, this bodes poorly for how our new coalition government will kowtow to Washington in coming months.

Good news on the Corona front . . .

A major educational development . . .

It was announced yesterday that beginning with the new school year on September 1, middle school and high school students will only attend classes 5 days a week instead of 6.

No longer will there be classes on Friday, so the school week will run from Sunday through Thursday.

Changes to the elementary school week will probably be forthcoming soon.

What does the change mean? Kids will have a “two day weekend” each week, and parents will need to adjust their schedules accordingly.

Some of the more than 40 children who have been brought to Israel to have life-saving heart operations–along with their parents and medical staff.

The 40+ children this week came from Ethiopia, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Zambia, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, and Kosovo–all brought to Israel by “Save A Child’s Heart” in Holon.

According to the organization: “To date, the organization has rescued more than 5,800 children from 62 countries in complex humanitarian operations, along with bringing more than 140 medical staff to Israel to undergo training and receive the tools needed to care for children independently in their countries of origin.”

CEO Simon Fischer had this to say in making yesterday’s announcement about this year’s group: “We strive to give every child in the world the best medical care, regardless of religion, race or gender. They will receive the most advanced medical treatment in the world and return home with a small piece of Israel in their hearts. “

We always hear about Israeli medical teams going all over the world to assist and save people in need. It is important to know that Israel also brings people who desperately need medical care here.
