Photos of the Morning
Here we are nearing the end of March, and it’s snowing in northern Israel, hailing in central Israel, and pouring rain in the south.
The three new F35s bring to 33 the total number of F35s now in the Israel Air Force arsenal.
The News on the Israeli Street
The daily Corona update . . .
As we now enter the 6th wave with the new BA.2 variant, Dr. Tal Brosh, the center of the Ministry of Health’s epidemic treatment team, said this yesterday: “Anyone who has not been infected with corona so far will be infected, but with each strain the disease will be easier.”
13,603 new cases of Corona were confirmed yesterday bringing to 66,821 the total number of Israelis with an active case of Covid-19.
The positive test rate was 19.08%.
301 Israelis are in serious condition in hospitals with another 149 in critical condition on ventilators.
10,455 Israelis have died of Corona–6 since Monday.
The Coalition government throws Israeli under the bus . . .
As you may remember, an anti-boycott law was passed last year that companies and organizations that work against the state of Israel will no longer be able to receive tax benefits here.
However its provisions have never been enforced.
Yesterday, the chairman of the Constitution Committee, MK Gilad Karib, refused to permit a vote on the regulations of the boycott law thereby effectively dumping it into the waste basket.
This action enraged Avi Singer, the owner of the Ben and Jerry’s franchise in Israel (who has been fighting against the parent company Unilever about its boycott of Israel): “I have been fighting a boycott alone. The state that promised me help does nothing. Israel demands that countries around the world take action against Unilever, but refuses to act on its own.”
Again, what is happening in Israel is just unbelievable.
The Biden Administration goes after Israel, again . . .
There is no end to Biden’s attempts to undermine and delegitimize Israel. Yesterday it was announced that the U.S. government is giving a $1 million dollar grant to the so-called “Authority for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor” in Israel.
What is the sole purpose of his hideous organization?
To report “human rights abuses by Israel.”
According to a statement by the Biden Administration: “The grant is a way to strengthen accountability and the protection of human rights in Israel and the territories.”
Unbelievable.
So now the Biden Administration feels that it needs to protect human rights here? What this grant will do is produce endless fraudulent accusations against Israel.
And yet Bennett, Lapid, and Gantz will do and say nothing about what their friend Biden is doing.
TODAY’S BLOG
What has happened to Israel?
Yesterday, we had Homeland Security Minister Amar Bar-Lev’s incredible confusion at the funeral of one of the Beersheva stabbing victims yesterday in which he stated that Israel wouldn’t rest until the terrorist was caught–when in fact the terrorist had been killed at the scene.
Today, he followed this up with praise for the Beersheva police whom he lauded for arriving at the scene “in 4 minutes.”
However, it turns out that the police took 13 minutes to respond–and the terrorist’s murderous rampage was only stopped by two pedestrians who opened fire.
By the way, guess where Bar-Lev was a mere 30 minutes after the attack in Beersheva?
One would have thought that he would have been on his way to Beersheva to review what happened and oversee a response.
But no.
Before he went to Beersheva, he went to Tel Aviv to meet with PLO Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ right hand man, Hussein a-Sheikh.
What did Bar-Lev want to talk to the PLO representative about in his one hour meeting?
He wanted to talk about how Israel is preparing for Ramadan, and to assure a-Sheikh that all of the concessions that Israel is making to the Palestinians for the holiday will remain in effect–in other words, Israel will permit hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from Judea and Samaria to pray on the Temple Mount, and thousands of family members of Gazan terrorists to visit their relatives in Israeli prisons.
By the way, after the meeting concluded, the PLO posted praise of the terrorist murderer on one of its Facebook pages.
This is another day when your humble servant just wants to scream “What has happened to Israel?”
