It is happening right before our eyes, and the Israeli government is doing nothing. Paralyzed by a delusionary peace process and political correctness, Israel is slowly surrendering sovereignty over our eternal capital of Jerusalem.
This month has seen some of the most egregious decisions in the history of this country. And while it is easy enough to blame the Jerusalem Police for acting in conjunction with the Islamic Wakf, the unfortunate truth is that many of the decisions come from the top–from the office of Benjamin Netanyahu.
Never before have Jews been denied permission (as if they need it) to visit the Temple Mount on Tisha B’Av. Never before have Jews been denied permission (as if they need it) to visit the Temple Mount during the last two weeks of Ramadan. Never before has an Israeli Prime Minister kowtowed to the dictates of a Jordanian King concerning sovereign Israeli territory in Jerusalem.
Do you remember Moshe Feiglin? Feiglin is the Likud MK who was personally barred by Benjamin Netanyahu from ascending the Temple Mount months ago. At the time, there was little outcry (except in this blog) about Netanyahu’s gross usurpation of power. After all, every media outlet from the Jerusalem Post to Al-Jazeera painted Feiglin as a “right-wing racist extremist”.
Well guess what? It is no longer just Moshe Feiglin; it is every Jew.

Is it any wonder that a group of Israeli legislators have just invited terrorists into the Knesset and hung their flag in its chambers?
Last week in the Knesset: a Palestinian flag is unfurled “in honor of” a visiting delegation from the PLO. The terrorist delegation included Palestinian “Prisoner Affairs Minister” Ashraf Al-Ajami; the director of the laughing named “Palestinian Center for the Dissemination of Democracy and Community Development in East Jerusalem” Walid Salem; and the chair of the “Political Committee of the Palestinian Legislative Council (read PLO), Abdallah Abdallah.
Is it any wonder that the Temple Mount has been brazenly Palestinized–while the Israeli government and Jerusalem Police have done nothing except encourage such activities?

The sad fact is that we have an Israeli government headed by Benjamin Netanyahu, spearheaded by Tzipi Livni, and underpinned by Shimon Peres which is not only acquiescing to the Palestinization of Jerusalem (not to mention Israel–see yesterday’s israelstreet blog)–-but even is encouraging it.
Is Jerusalem merely some bargaining concession in a Netanyahu–Livni–Peres “peace process” or is Israel the eternal capital of the Jewish people?
The time has come to stand up for Jerusalem and for Israel. Tell your legislators in your country what you think. Contact the Israeli consulate or embassy near where you live and tell them what you think. Get out into your community and do something–don’t just sit back and expect Netanyahu, Livni, and Peres to defend Jerusalem. They won’t.
