UPDATES 9 am Israel time, Sunday, October 6 2013:
*You may remember yesterday that your humble servant wrote how the Shin Bet report of 133 Palestinian terrorist incidents during the month of September was grossly understated.
Here is a small sampling of terrorist incidents in the last 36 hours (since Friday night) in Judea and Samaria: near Al Khader a Palestinian terrorist threw a Molotov cocktail at an Israeli motorist; near Sebastia, Palestinian terrorists rammed their car through a checkpoint, ran over two Border Guards and escaped; near Awa, southwest of Hebron, Palestinian terrorists threw 3 Molotov cocktails at an Israeli vehicle; near Hebron, Palestinian terrorists threw 2 Molotov cocktails at IDF forces; in Burin, south of Shechem, more than 200 Palestinians threw “rocks” at Israeli security forces; in Psagot, near Ramallah, a 9 year old girl playing in her front yard was shot in the chest by a Palestinian terrorist; in Jilazun, Palestinian rioters attacked IDF forces.
*The Syrian government released a series of self-serving photographs showing Bashar Assad’s wife, Asma, consoling the families of Syrian soldiers who have been killed fighting the so-called “rebels”. One of the many odd things about the photos is that none of the family members who have lost loved ones appears in any way sad or distraught as they pose with rock star Asma:
*Egypt continues to seethe with daily demonstrations and attacks on Egyptian policemen and soldiers. Yesterday 4 demonstrators were killed as was one soldier near Ismailiya. This morning, the Egyptian Army has decreed that anyone demonstrating against the Army will be treated as a “foreign agent.”
*Autumn has come to Israel with much cooler temperatures, frequently cloudy skies, and the occasional shower. With the change of season, wild flowers are in full bloom. Here is a lovely picture taken by “Eyal G” yesterday of some crocuses on the Israeli Golan Heights:
TODAY’S BLOG:
Throughout the last two years, we have seen a continuing deterioration of the situation in Judea and Samaria. The brave residents of the communities there have been forced to endure a daily reign of terror that includes “rocks”, Molotov cocktails, spikes in the road, burning tires, and an assortment of other weapons.
Residents have been killed in car crashes caused by “rocks” and Molotov cocktails, wounded by shattered glass and burning projectiles, and emotionally traumatized by the increasing terrorism. In the last month, we have seen two soldiers killed in Judea and Samaria–one of them murdered by a Palestinian sniper.

As reported in the updates above, a 9-year-old girl was shot yesterday evening by a Palestinian terrorist while playing in the front yard of her home in Psagot near Ramallah. Immediately after the shooting and despite being shot in the “upper body”, the girl was able to report to community security personnel that she had seen the terrorist enter her yard, point his gun at her, and fire.
Coupled with the deaths of the soldiers, her shooting marks an even more dangerous evolution in Palestinian terrorism. Many Israeli politicians this morning are calling for a cessation of all “peace talks” with the Palestinians.
One final note today. Take a moment and read the first part of the Jerusalem Post account of the terrorist attack to see how the Israeli media and sometimes even medical personnel constantly warp the events in Judea and Samaria (emphasis mine):
“A nine-year-old Israel girl is recovering after she was injured in Psagot, near Ramallah on Saturday night in a likely terrorist attack. The IDF’s Binyamin Division entered the area with large forces to search for the suspect. Magen David Adom paramedics evacuated the girl to Sha’are Zedek Medical Center in serious condition. West Bank police said the girl was playing in the yard of her house when she was hit by a shot to the upper body. The girl was rushed from the scene to the hospital in Jerusalem. She was lightly wounded, hospital officials said.”
Not injured—wounded.
Not likely—definitely.
Not West Bank—Judean.
Not lightly wounded—seriously wounded: any nine year old girl shot in the upper body is seriously wounded. By the way, note that there is no mention of her emotional distress.
