25 Days Until The Election
***All Israel is abuzz this morning. And no, it’s not about terrorism, and it’s not about the election, and it’s not about how much money the Netanyahus spent on cottage cheese last year.
All Israel is abuzz about snow.
If the predictions are correct, by nightfall we will see snow in the Golan, in the Galilee, in Jerusalem, in Arad, in Mitzpe Ramon, in Beersheva, and maybe, perhaps, even here in Ashdod.
It has already been announced that schools are closing today at 12:00 pm in Tzfat and in Jerusalem. Additionally the main road into Jerusalem, Highway 1, will be closed this evening, and the Jerusalem Municipality has canceled all events.
What is the best thing about the snow? The best thing is that election coverage has been knocked off page one of the news.
***For the second time in two days, there has been a terrorist shooting incident in Samaria, this time near the Palestinian settlement of Shufa. Information is still unclear at this hour, but apparently a Palestinian wearing a soldier’s uniform opened fire on an Israeli car near a checkpoint hitting it at least 3 times. Fortunately, all of those inside the car escaped physical injury. The terrorist escaped.
***On the election front, the unending revelations about the alleged spending of the Netanyahus seem to have had little effect on the polls with ones this morning continuing to show a dead heat between Likud and Herzog/Livni.
As was predicted several days ago, the Israel Supreme Court reversed the decision of the Election Commission yesterday and reinstated Haneen Zoabi–the ultra leftist Arab legislator who has said that kidnapping Israelis is not terrorism–and Baruch Marzel, the ultra-nationalist who has been associated with Meir Kahane. Marzel’s reinstatement will be an undoubted boost to the new Yachad party.

In case you missed the latest nonsense from the Obama Administration, Marie Harf, one of the spokeswomen for the John Kerry’s State Department, remarked on Tuesday that if we really want to stop IS fighters from beheading, burning, and enslaving, all we have to do is find jobs for them.

Yes, you heard that correctly, a jobs program will solve all the problems.
Yet, as crazy as that sounds, it is the same fraudulent policy that was adopted years ago by the COGAT* Unit of the Israel Defense Forces in regard to Gaza, and has been continued despite the fact that not one Hamas or Islamic Jihad terrorist has been persuaded to stop trying to kill Israelis.
Just this morning, COGAT announced that:
*Israel is increasing the monthly quota of Gaza merchants traveling to Judea and Samaria from 3,000 to 5,000. According to COGAT, Israel is doing this to provide more jobs to Gazans in the textile and furniture industries. What it is really doing is providing ready access of Hamas operatives to Judea and Samaria and more materials for Hamas terrorists to make weapons.
*Israel will allow 45 tractors to be transferred to Gaza through the Kerem Shalom Crossing. Does anyone really believe that the tractors will really be used for agriculture? There is virtually no arable land in the Palestinian state of Gaza.
Since the latest “ceasefire” last August, COGAT has now allowed 62,000 tons of construction materials into Gaza–construction materials that have immediately been used by Hamas to refurbish existing tunnels and to build new ones.
Why is it so hard for the world, and for the Israeli government, to understand that giving terrorists “land for peace” and “providing jobs” for terrorists never stops terrorism. In the end, it is the appeasers who always lose.
