When the story of this election is written, the seven-headed hydra that put together “the assault on Netanyahu” will become a source of study no matter what the outcome.

Let’s look at the seven heads of the hydra:
Head 1: The Israeli parties and their leaders who have mounted the “anyone but Bibi” campaign including Herzog/Livni, Yair Lapid, and Avigdor Lieberman. Each one of them comes out with a fresh accusation against Netanyahu on a rotating basis: Monday-Herzog, Tuesday-Lapid, Wednesday-Lieberman, Thursday-Herzog . . . and so on. None of these parties has a campaign except “anyone but Bibi.”
Head 2: The Israeli Media led by Noni Mozes at the Yedioth Aharonot newspaper, and the pundits and anchors at Channels 1, 2, and 10 who viciously attack Netanyahu in every conceivable way. Whatever mud Herzog, Livni, and Lapid throw at Netanyahu leads off every news cycle.
Head 3: The Israel State Comptroller, Joseph Shapira, who breached all ethics last week by rushing to publish a bogus “possible” criminal finding against the Netanyahus over recycled bottles and garden furniture–and accused them of unethical behavior for ordering “take-out” food to their residence. Moreover, Shapira is now rushing to publish a a “Housing Report” which also blames Netanyahu for the high cost of housing.
Head 4: Israel Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein who–working in tandem with Shapira–rushed to give Netanyahu House Manager and Chief Accuser immunity from prosecution last week so that he (Weinstein) could open a criminal investigation of the Netanyahus before March 17th. (This may have blown up in Weinstein’s face yesterday when a neighbor of Naftali filed a criminal complaint against Naftali for allegedly stealing “boxes” of food out of the Netanyahu residence every week).
Head 5: President Obama by signing off on sending his ground campaign manager and his team to Israel over a month ago to direct the “get out the vote” campaign for Herzog and Livni–and through John Kerry’s U.S. State Department via its funding of the One Voice (V 15) Movement which is also working to get out the anti-Netanyahu vote.
Head 6: The European Union and scores of so-called “humanitarian” NGOs. All of these, from the New Israel Fund to Irish “charities” have turned all of their attention to getting rid of Netanyahu.
Head 7: The Qatari government and the Iranian government. Qatar announced two days ago that it was going to release Mossad cables through its Al-Jazeera network purporting to show that Mossad disagreed with Netanyahu’s assessment of Iranian nuclear ability. Obviously, this was an attempt to besmirch and undermine Netanyahu before his trip to Washington. Interestingly, the cables which were released yesterday were not from Mossad at all, but were from a South African State Security document. The Iranian government, through an Iranian lobby in the U.S., took out full-page anti-Netanyahu ads in the New York Times this week excoriating Netanyahu and praising President Obama:
So what is one to say? Can Netanyahu survive the onslaught of the hydra? We’ll soon know.
