**As a result of meetings yesterday of President Reuven Rivlin with some of the parties elected to the Knesset, 51 seats have now been pledged to Benjamin Netanyahu (Likud, Jewish Home, Shas, United Torah Judaism), and 30 seats have been pledged to Isaac Herzog (Herzog-Livni, Meretz).
Today, Koolanu (10) and Yisrael Beiteinu (6) are also expected to nominate Netanyahu which will take him past the magic 61 number.
In yesterday’s discussions, Rivlin indicated that he will be asking Netanyahu to form a ruling coalition as quickly as possible. However, due to the demands of all of the smaller parties for ministerships of this and that, it may be some time before the new government is announced.
**Almost everyday here in Israel, Palestinian terrorists attack buses in Judea, Samaria, and Jerusalem. In the past, most of the attacks have been “rock” assaults in which the terrorists attempt to shatter the front windshield of the bus in order to make the bus driver lose control and crash.
In recent weeks, the terrorists have begun throwing paint on the windshields in order to achieve the same goal. Early this morning, such an attack occurred near Hizma. Fortunately, even though the driver of the bus veered off the road, he was able to regain control before crashing.
**The never-ending attack by the Yediot Aharanot newspaper on PM Netanyahu continued yesterday with yet a new bogus survey which reported that only 37% of Israelis are happy with the election–and that, obviously, 63% are unhappy.
Of course, this is yet another laughable poll from the “Left” and in the same vein as the pre-election polls which were so miserably incorrect. A couple of days ago, Yediot’s lead pollster, so-called “Professor” Camil Fuchs, described his feelings upon learning on Wednesday morning that his exit poll was so wrong last Tuesday night. He said he “thought he would die”–not because the poll was wrong, but because “there was no chance” that Herzog would be the next Prime Minister.
Perhaps that comment tells you a little about the bias to the Left of polling here in Israel.
By the way, here in Ashdod, Israelis are elated with the election result.
**You may recall, dear reader, that israelstreet described last week how Iranian forces had played the lead role in the “Iraqi” conquest of Tikrit. We even went so far as to post a picture of famed Iranian general Suleimani striding through the city.
Well, that Iranian takeover seems far shakier this morning following a number of Sunni ambushes of Iranian troops and assassinations of Iranian commanders in the last 24 hours. At least one of those assassinated was Suleimani’s right hand man, and Suleimani has fled the city.
Along with numerous dead Iranians.
TODAY’S BLOG:
So the truth finally comes out.
As if it wasn’t out already.
For some years now, many of us have been castigating J Street, the self-proclaimed “pro-Israel, pro-peace” movement in the United States and elsewhere for inviting members of the Boycott, Divest, and Sanctions Movement (BDS) to speak at J Street annual conventions.
Even though J Street always claimed that inviting BDS speakers was done in the pursuit of “free speech” and hearing “a diversity of ideas”, all of us knew it was a ruse–a ruse to get BDS adopted by Jews everywhere.

Yesterday, the pretense was stripped away for all to see.
J Street founder and Obama sycophant Jeremy Ben-Ami, speaking before 3000 cheering delegates, called for an outright boycott of and divestment from any Jewish institutions across the Green Line:
“We plan to challenge Jewish communal institutions to remember the physical and symbolic significance of the Green Line. Do the Jewish institutions that you give money to, does your money stay within the Green Line?”
He proceeded to call on Jewish students to replace Israel maps in their institutions with maps that clearly designate all areas across the Green Line as “the Palestinian West Bank”.
Your humble servant asks you to remember today that the Green Line is nothing more than the Armistice Line that was drawn in 1949 to separate Israeli forces from Arab (mainly Jordanian) forces. At the insistence of Arabs, it was never meant to be a border of anything.
What is across the Green Line? What does Ben-Ami want to proclaim as Palestinian? What does Ben-Ami want Jewish students to map as Palestinian?
Let’s take Jerusalem as an example:
So what is now “Palestine” according to J Street and Ben-Ami?
All of the dark blue area on the map. The Old City of Jerusalem including the Jewish Quarter, the Western Wall (Kotel), and the Temple Mount.
J Street has always been nothing more than an arm of Obama foreign policy and the BDS movement. It would cut the Jewish heart out of Jerusalem–and turn the Old City back over to the very forces that ethnically cleansed it of all Jews between 1948 and 1967.
Your humble servant doesn’t have words for how despicable J St is–but at least Israelis know exactly who the enemy is, and we can take some comfort from the fact that the new Netanyahu government will avoid J Street like the plague.
Isn’t it time for all American Jews to do the same?
