**Temperatures have soared in Israel today; one hour ago at 6 pm in the late afternoon: Tel Aviv (102 F, 39 C); Jerusalem (95 F, 35 C), Haifa (104 F, 40 C), Beersheva (106 F, 41 C); Eilat (104 F, 40 C). All of these are expected to rise tomorrow; for example, the high in Eilat tomorrow is supposed to be 112 F.
Because of the extreme heat, air travel has been delayed into and out of Ben Gurion airport, and train travel has been slowed because of overheated rails. Even worse, wildfires have broken out in many parts of Israel–most seriously around Beit Shemesh where firefighters are battling a huge blaze.
**The situation of Syrian President Assad continues to deteriorate. Desperately fighting to hang on to small enclaves in the central part of the country, the Syrian Army has virtually conceded control of Syria’s border crossings to Al-Qaeda, IS, and “Syrian rebels”:
On the above map, you can see that only 8 border crossings are controlled by the Syrian Army (those marked with the Syrian flag: red/white/black with 2 stars)–and six of those are on the Lebanon border. Those six are actually controlled by Hezbollah.
TODAY’S BLOG:
So what happened yesterday?
At 9:02 pm, 5 or 6 missiles were fired out of Gaza by Palestinian terrorists who were either members of Hamas’ military wing or were part of a terror group such as Islamic Jihad that operates at the will of Hamas.
Incoming missile alarms immediately sounded throughout the Chof Ashkelon-Gan Yavne-Ashdod region sending more than 250,000 terrified men, women, and children running to their bomb shelters.
Residents–including the family members of your humble servant–reported hearing at least four missile impact explosions (there was no Iron Dome to intercept them). One of these explosions took place in the northern Ashdod industrial area. Another took place in the Gan Yavne area. Another seems to have occurred in a restricted military area between southern Ashdod and Ashkelon. At least one other explosion was heard even further south.
No one was physically wounded though numerous Israelis were treated for emotional trauma.
Of course, you would never know any of this by reading or listening to government spokespeople, the IDF spokesman, or the mainstream Israeli news media–all of which follow the same pathetic reporting pattern time and time again:
–they all always under-report the extent of such attacks; the IDF spokesman reported yesterday that just one missile was fired and that it struck somewhere around Gan Yavne.
–they all always mouth the party line of the likes of Netanyahu and Ya’alon who invariably say that such attacks will not be tolerated and that Hamas is responsible–but that Hamas did not really carry out the attack.
–they all always report that Israel has bombed “terrorist infrastructure” in retaliation–whereas in reality the IAF specializes in bombing empty fields, empty buildings, and sand dunes in Gaza.
–they all always report that Hamas has “arrested” those who fired the missiles; whereas in reality no one has been arrested.
When you think about this pattern, each part is laughable, but perhaps the most laughable part is the hollow braggadocio of Netanyahu and his lackey Moshe Ya’alon–Israel’s so-called “Defense” Minister.
Here is what Yaalon said this morning: “Israel has no intention of ignoring rocket fire on its citizens. [The terrorists] in Gaza will pay a heavy price. Hamas better restrain any attempts to open fire toward Israel or provoke it; otherwise we will have to act more forcefully. I wouldn’t advise anyone to test us.”
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha. What a joke.
Here’s what Ya’alon babbled on April 3, 2013 after rocket and mortar fire from Gaza:
“We see Hamas as responsible for anything fired from Gaza at Israel.. We will not allow in any way a return to the routine of sporadic rocket attacks on our citizens and forces.”
Here’s what Ya’alon babbled on January 22, 2014:
“If [Hamas] doesn’t know how to impose its authority on terrorist organizations operating from its territory we will continue to act to make it, and those who are active in terror and fire at Israel will pay a heavy price.”

Here’s what Ya’alon babbled on June 27, 2014–just before Hamas launched almost 5000 missiles at Israel during last summer’s war:
“We will not allow rocket fire on Israel or attempted attacks on our civilians or troops.”
Here’s what Ya’alon babbled on December 21, 2014:
“Hamas firing even one rocket at Israel will not be tolerated.”
What is amazing to your humble servant is that that Ya’alon seems to have no idea how hollow he sounds.
A heavy price indeed.
By the way, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh laughed this afternoon that the missiles had sent “1,000,000 Israelis into shock.”
